I like peach cakes! Does anyone know who took it?

If they charged normal prices for fruit people wouldn't steal them

Awe, for peach sake! What a son of a peach!

price is commensurate with the time and care put into growing it. where else can you buy fruit that huge, juicy, sweet and doesn't have a single mark or defect on it?

Now this story takes the cake!

And I was planning on making a peach cobbler for dessert tonight. So much for that idea.

fds: huge, juicy and sweet, almost any place that grows them...blemish-free is a marketing ploy for weak-minded consumers

I hope they catch the people who did this and im-peach them.

I've had the expensive fruit in Japan and it doesn't taste any better than the regular supermarket fruit back in Australia. Sometimes I've paid huge amounts for fruit that tasted plain bad. I don't care if it looks perfectly round with no spots on it.

I wish I could find shops around Tokyo selling normal fruits at a discounted price: no stupid packaging, just a bunch of fruits you can pick up. They could sell fruits with non perfect apparence (spots, not round, etc...). There's a lot of people with low purchasing power here (especially outside downtown Tokyo), and many cannot afford buying many fruits and vegetables anymore. I'm sure there's a real market for discounted fresh products.

You guys need to be taking this story more seriously. There are some serious criminals on the loose right now... None of your fruits are safe.

I'd go buy some cheap peaches from the back of a truck if I lived around there

The cops just need to check if a bunch of guys all turned up at a hospital suffering from severe diarrhoea.

I hope the criminals get impeached.

Altria, sorry I see you beat me to it

WilliB,

It's really the pits when you think you have a juicy plum of a one-liner and didn't realize it was already used but I'm sure Altria is flattered. As for these crooks I'm thinking that by stealing the peaches they they thought they could make some quick cash and get out of whatever financial jam they have found themselves in. I hope the local fuzz nails these guys soon. I've heard that there was an Ojiisan woodcutter and an Obachan who does her laundry in a river nearby that might have a good lead on a pretty promising suspect when it comes to someone who has been pretty involved with peaches in the past. I'd start with them.

Funny jokes, everyone. Now let's just hope that the farmer was insured for the loss of a fair proportions of his yearly income.
