Police in Otofuke, Hokkaido, have arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of beating his 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend.

According to police, the man said he got angry at his daughter for suddenly showing up at his home after not keeping in touch with him for a long time, local media reported.

Police said the man, who works as a security guard, hit his daughter’s face several times at around 10:20 p.m. Friday. She suffered an injury to her upper lip.

Police said the daughter, who is unemployed, left home several months ago and had bene living with her boyfriend. When they showed up at her father's house, she said her father lost his temper and starting hitting her and her boyfriend. The couple ran out of the house and called police.

…well she probably won’t be in touch for a lot longer from now on.

"The couple ran out of the house and called police."

Tells everything about this woman, poor father seems like he´s been through a lot.

Maybe the reason she hadn't seen or contacted her father in a while is *she'd** been through a lot* of such violence from him in the past and had escaped the situation?

There's much that isn't known from the story.

We know he punched his daughter in the face several times. There is very little in the world that would justify that.

Lol, my 23 year old daughter moved out on her own accord almost a year ago and I barely hear from her. Now you’re NEVER going to hear from her.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Well, she won’t be contacting him again any time soon.

After raiding the fridge and quaffing papa’s beer -the assault was unavoidable…

Oh yeah, she's really going to want to stay in touch with him now that he's smacked her around a bit....

Lovely to see all the usual victim blaming here. There is no excuse for a father to physically assault his child, especially beating her in the face. There is never a good justification for that kind of violence against anyone.

And for all the people effectively claiming she "deserved it" for not keeping in touch...as someone who came from an abusive home, with a mother who likes to give the silent treatment to her children as a form of punishment, how do you know that the father himself isn't the reason why the daughter never kept in touch? He could easily have been abusive all along.

We don't know all the facts, but we do know one thing, and it's that what this man did is obviously sick, and wrong. Hope he faces repercussions.

Both side are at fault and need to sort things out

He beat his daughter. He is at fault.

so she ran away, didnt contact father for over 7 months?

then suddenly rocked up. whos father wouldnt be angry.

No im not condoning his violence.

but id be saying what do you want, money a place to stay for free!?

well explain to me why I should give you any of that!?

Parents want to know what's happening in their kids' lives. Phoning at least monthly is the lease a child should do to stay in contact. Parents had over a decade to set that expectation. If they didn't, it was bad parenting. The daughter and father weren't talking, yet expected each other to know these expectations?

Crazy.

There's much that isn't known from the story. We don't know if there was prior abuse from either side. We don't know if the daughter was introducing her boyfriend to him for the first time seeking approval. We don't know if they were hoping to stay for a few hours, days, or months.

We don't know.

Cause and effect

Don't show up unannounced.

WTF: That’s EXACTLY what she did, who do you suppose helped MAKING her financially independent? She works for Chase now :)

Ran away with her boyfriend without telling her parents, couldn’t find a job and ran out of money so went back to daddy begging for money? Took the boyfriend so she could inform daddy about the fact she was up the duff?

Totally unjustified reaction guaranteed to ensure she stays out of touch. Just how was punching her face in supposed to encourage her to stay in touch?

Victim blaming is both pathetic and morally reprehensible.

The thug of a father obviously has anger issues, hardly the person you want to employ as a security guard.

55yrs old man punches 19yrs old girl several times in the face. He's a piece of trash not a dad. He could've just said no. I don't want you inside the house.

Gee...I wonder why she left home.....maybe because she was being physically abused? I doubt this was the first time he attacked her. Who knows what other kind of abuse was occurring. Did he ever try contacting her?

Not a dad. A piece of trash.

Quality patenting from this guy.

Abuser makes any excuse to justify the abuse. Poor girl must have been abused at home before this. The father would say "out of love" but that so-called love is twisted.

Lol, my 23 year old daughter moved out on her own accord almost a year ago and I barely hear from her.

she probably told you she was moving out, made herself financially stable, and good for her.

hearing from her, well you can always text or call her.

but now imagine she just moved out without telling you then showed up 7 months later, yeah completely different circumstances

Not condoning the dads slap in the face.Although it wouldn't surprise me if she deserved it. So She ran away from home, didn't bother to contact him at all. Unemployed, not in education. Probably with a looser boyfriend. Walked up to the door, and did what? Ask for money? There is way more to this story then, dad slapped his daughter. There are millions of parents who have indeed had a fight with their kids. So I'm not gonna condemn any dad/mum for maybe giving them a slap. No dad just slaps their daughter and the boyfriend for no good reason. No mention of the mother though. Maybe she is just a selfish 19 year old.

I wanna see pictures of the three involved before I make a judgment call.

Papa's got soul, a heart of gold, and papa don't take no mess

Another tragic story that saddens me. A lack of social services and general help with family issues make situations like this prevalent
