Surely censoring is purely academic these days when so much is readily accessible via the Internet.
sillygirl
Hahahaha. Mistakenly?
combinibento
Not only is censoring a pointless trade these days, why anyone would spend a dime on DVDs and the like is a mystery now that anything and everything, in every genre ever imagined, is readily available for free on the Internets...
wontond
The cops probably just got busted by their wives and needed a scapegoat.
mitoguitarman
If their material was any good, why do they need to sell the ED pills?
SauloJpn
When the chief's WIFE got the mail HE had to act!!!
WilliB
"and three sets were addressed to the police chief’s house accidentally"
Accidentally? Hahaha
SuperLib
Now that's what I call a sticky situation.

Nothing wrong with that. I bet you'd do it! All men love porn and those who say that they don't are liars or are in serious denial!
Barry Cartwright
So much of what is legal and illegal seems as random as the mailing list in this case. My sympathy to the pornographers for having run afoul of such a stupid law. One has to wonder if the next to step is to issue paper pixel sheets for use during relations between husband and wife. After all what is obscene on film must surely be obscene when directly viewed.
jojo_in_japan
And the 2013 DARWIN AWARD GOES TO?! (Drum roll pls....)
Michael Craig
It' IS a stupid law! Those six poor guys were just doing their thing! j-Cope are total buzzkillers!!
paulinusa
"...as well as 7,000 erectile dysfunction pills, they said, adding that police also suspected they illegally possessed the pills."
Let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe they had a prescription from their doctors.
Jimizo
280,000 uncensored disks? That should keep them out of mischief for a while.
CrazyJoe
That's what I call hospitality. "O MO TE NA SHI".
HonestDictator
So many puns and so little time. Seriously I hope someday Japan gets rid of its stupid censorship law. Must be too lazy to make sure uncensored porn doesn't find its way into the hands of "minors".. Meanwhile, there are plenty of love hotels and "massage" parlors available that many of those unrecorded (and some recorded?) "obscene" acts go on uncensored all the time. Double standard if you'll ever see one.
karjai
ha ha ha ha ha these clowns really a joke.
sengoku38
Did the police keep the ED pills?
Patric Spohn
Fun killers. Nothing by mistake. Those J-cops signed up to be on the mailing list :)
globalwatcher
bhahaha. Sounds like they were shooting at police station, bhahaha...
Some of those child porn manufacturers are linked to Yakuza criminals. Hope Japanese government goes after these Yakuza before it gets too late. They are tarnishing a Japanese positive image in the world through porns.
Novenachama
Any idiot knows what's wrong with pornography. The nature of pornography is to target youth and to corrupt, violate virtue, and good morals. It's all about money. It's a wise man who spends his time working on a hobby or project to keep his mind preoccupied with good things.
squeeks
Who buys porn, anyway? It's free! Double fail on these bozos.
BPoint
Novenachama,
That's what the refractory period is for..;)
nath
I had read that Japan was very slow moving from physical media to digital steaming...but 280,000 dvds????
sheesh
Christopher Blackwell
I still remember having a teenager use my computer and then having to erase it. Perhaps we should design porn for the Teenagers. I would have liked some back when I was a teenager.
Novenachama
The main defense against pornography are close family life, good marriage, and good relations between parent, children, coupled with deliberate parental monitoring of Internet use.
Disillusioned
Japan has some strange laws. It's illegal to sell uncensored porn DVDs, but not illegal to possess child porn.
Elbuda Mexicano
By MISTAKE?? Hahahaha!! Let me guess, old man dirty flat foot Osaka cop gets drunk late at night, sees this DVD and Viagra add, makes the call 3 times, the wife gets angry and now we have the finest of Osaka's finest best the local ero bideo porn dealers. Only in Osaka?? No, happens all the time and the last big bust was in Shinjuku but the buested were Chinese!
maryartemis
erectile dysfunction pills are not illegal are they? but porn is and should be. trouble is that the only reason they were found is that they mailed them under the noses of the police! this should be hilarious. police need to go out and track this smut down.
Disillusioned
Maryartemis - ED pills are not illegal, but they must be sold through a prescription in Japan. You can buy them from overseas easily enough, but you can't sell them.
nath
Drop in the ocean. Think of all the other perversions and goings on. and plenty of totoally uncensored and underage stuff openly on sale in lots of places (Akiba anyone?).
Yasuyuki Matsumiya
lol
Tiger_In_The_Hermitage
Funny.... well those neglected by the economy need to earn a living one way or another.
smithinjapan
I'm guessing the wife just picked up the personalized mail and so the cop finally had to act. Please... if the police wanted to crack down on porn in this nation they just need to go to the next door love hotel.
Cos
I receive some all the time too. I'm not a mail. I know who brings them, where they print them and cops in Osaka know even better. About 10 yrs ago, people were sick of getting the horrible (graphic) catalogs overflowing their mail boxes, and we've signed petitions. They did a symbolic crack down. The business has not stopped but they know avoid posting the ugly stuff to individual houses and mansions with family type flats. They still put small ads with no illustrations.
That means really disgusting stuff abusing kids and others. If the stuff was acceptable porn, they wouldn't need to distribute it that way, they'd put it in the many shops and vending machines.
Idem. legal ones would be in pharmacies.
Jeremy Rigby
I hope they can catch the scum that are making the movies....because I'm confident a lot of the ladies are tricked or forced into their roles!
Richard bHard
Probably sent the wrong kind of porn that's why they were arrested! Chief was probably telling his associates"wait till you see this stuff I have coming in you are gonna love it" Opens up the box in front of all the perverts only to find gay porn and soiled underpants,he buddies all looked at him with disgust, shook their heads and left the room,so he had to arrest someone and make it look like it was a "mistake" to save face.
Loki520
That's quite a "kafkaesque" statement right there....
DudeDeuce
The discs were uncensored but when the police chief made some kids, was that uncensored?
Dennis Du Mond
time to update the mailing list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah_so
These men should be locked up for trying to sell uncensored porn. It is all free on the Internet. Absolutely shocking to charge for it.
Row Bur
Funny how many posters here judge everyone by their own abysmally low standards. Not every man is a 14 year old in an adult body. Some of us are grown ups not obsessed with porn.
Scnadal.Lova
imagine the officers wife goes to get the mail box and pulls out porn tapes... awkword.
darkwolf15455
How. do you mistakenly do you send it to the wrong address
AramaTaihenNoYouDidnt
He is so busted!! Now tries to cover-up by pulling rank...?! Maybe the six-pack team needed his approval. I say, He is a suspect in all this and should be investigated as well.
