A 60-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to steal a girl's underwear in Chiba city.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Hiromi Nagasaka, climbed onto the 1st-floor balcony of an apartment in Wakaba Ward early last Monday morning. NTV reported that as he was grabbing underwear off the line, a 15-year-old girl who lives in the apartment saw him and screamed. Members of her family detained Nagasaka until police arrived.
Following his arrest, about 250 item of women's underwear were found in the suspect's apartment, police said.
Police quoted Nagasaka as saying, "I began to get interested in women's underwear sometime in my 20s. I had stolen underwear a few times before then as well."
