Police said Tuesday they have arrested a 60-year-old man in Kamisu, Ibaraki Prefecture, for allegedly attempting to kill a 38-year-old acquaintance with a harpoon gun.
According to police, the suspect, who has been named as Toshio Koshikawa, had been drinking alcohol at a barbecue he was holding at his house on Sunday night, when he allegedly fired a harpoon at one of his guests, Fuji TV reported. The meter-long projectile missed the man and no injuries were reported.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led up to the incident.
