Police in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting a 47-year-old man on the street outside a pub.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday. Sankei Shimbun quoted police as saying that the suspect, Akinori Sato, came into the pub in Kawasaki Ward and sat at the counter beside the victim, a company employee. Police said the two men did not know each other.
Other customers said Sato, who was drunk, started talking incessantly to the victim who took no notice. Sato appeared annoyed and slapped the man on the face and punched the right side of his jaw.
They then went outside where they continued arguing. A passerby called 110.
Police said Sato has denied the charge, claiming he was drunk and can’t remember anything about the incident.

claiming he was drunk and can’t remember anything about the incident.
This should be part of the offense, not the defense.

I'm concerned that the victim is infected with COVID-19 besides injuries.

I think I am not understanding something, or missing something from this article.
This happens every night in multiple places around the Kanto plain, why is this particular instance of note?

Happened to me so many times. I gave up the “who won the war?” line, and changed to to telling them about my gay sexual adventures when I was single...works wonders.
