Hyogo prefectural police have arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of assault and robbing the prize exchange office of a pachinko parlor in Kobe City.

According to police, the robbery occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the pachinko parlor in Nagata Ward. The suspect, Masatoshi Kako, a company employee from Chuo Ward, is also accused of beating the 39-year-old woman in the prize exchange office, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said Kako broke into the office and threatened to kill the woman unless she gave him money. He then knocked her down, straddled her and punched her five times in the face and stomach. After assaulting the woman, Kako took a plastic bag containing about 2.5 million yen in cash, which had been placed on the counter.

Police said a male employee managed to subdue Kako. The woman sustained minor injuries after cutting her lip in the attack.
