Police said Wednesday that they have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death at their home in Yokohama.
According to police, the two men, identified as Akio Kurihara, 66, his wife, and his brother Shiro, 63 had lived together for many years. Fuji TV reported that emergency services received a call at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday from Akio in which he said he had stabbed his brother.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Shiro with stab wounds to his stomach and other parts of his body. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police said Akio had admitted to stabbing his brother and quoted him as saying, "Shiro had caused me a great deal of trouble in my life."

Hmmmm, sad story. For 66 years you took it. Even lived with him. Would love to get Mrs Kurihara's take on it all.

Cain and Abel...and we humans haven't changed a bit.

It's one of those extenuating circumstances and so will be judged by the lay judges.

Grumpy old men should not live together

"Merry Christmas bro!" Seriously though, a lot of the old people in Japan are complete loons and should be institutionalized.

C'mon now, Disillusioned. A lot of old people in Japan are not complete loons. No more so than in any other country on earth. Repressed animosity can unexpectedly erupt into violence of many sorts, in anyone, regardless of age. We read enough about that on JT. Understanding the circumstances helps, when it comes to posting opinions, but even if we knew everything about such cases, we couldn't turn back the clock. The irony of this case, happening so close to Christmas, a day we're supposed to profess brotherly love and peace, is not lost on me.

Horrible! So why did this guy allow his brother to live with him and his wife??

Even if his brother did cause him trouble throughout his life that is no reason to kill him your own flesh and blood. He probably wouldn't have anywhere to live if it weren't for his younger brother.
