A 33-year-old hospital patient in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, has been arrested after he stabbed to death a 70-year-old patient in the back using a knife he found somewhere in the building, police said Saturday.

According to police, the stabbing occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the psychiatric ward of Kurita Hospital in Saiwai Ward. TBS reported that police received a call from a hospital employee, saying that two patients were fighting. Before police could arrive, however, the 70-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a toilet, hospital staff said.

Police searched for the assailant who fled the scene after the incident, and found him two hours later still on the hospital premises and charged him with murder.
