Police in Kusatsu, Shiga Prefecture, have arrested a 70-year-old woman on suspicion of strangling her 76-year-old husband to death.
According to the police, a call came into 110 at around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, in which the caller said "My mother told me she killed my father."
When the police arrived at the apartment, they found Yoshinori Yamada collapsed in the living room with a rope around his neck, NHK reported. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Yamada lived in the apartment with his wife Kanae, their 45-year-old son, who called 110, their daughter and two grandchildren. All were home on Sunday.
Police said Kanae, who had been caring for her ailing husband, has admitted to the allegation and arrested her early Monday.

Reminds me of stories of elderly people deliberately getting arrested for shoplifting so they can get bed and board for the night
