It should all be on CCTV.

Hopefully jail time for the despicable old child molester - and total shunning from his community upon release.

And curious how in Japan they don't call it for what it is sexual assault, they soften it by calling it chikan or groping. That is a reflection of how unseriously sexual assault is taken in Japan.

Also, note how sexual assault of this nature is categorised under the seemingly modest title of the Nuisance Prevention Ordinance.

In most cases, sexual assault is sexual assault and categorized as such. It's not a 'nuisance' it's a violation of an individual's bodily autonomy, dignity, and rights. It constitutes a form of violence and abuse, characterized by any unwanted sexual contact or behaviour that occurs without the explicit consent of the victim. It can involve a wide range of actions, from unwanted touching or groping to rape or other forms of penetration.

Sexual assault is not only a violation of physical boundaries but also has significant psychological and emotional impacts on the victim. It undermines their sense of safety, security, and trust in others.

So here's the correction for the sake of this women and women everywhere:

Some clarity:

Japanese do not refer euphemistically to sexual assault as groping (痴漢). International footballer Ito Junya was dropped from the Asia World Cup squad after allegations of sexual assault- 性加害- were levelled against him.

Further, Japanese media report that the man in the Toyama case was arrested for having touched (触った) the victim.

71 years old! 71, can you believe it? Well, unless he has similar prior he won’t get banged up, suspended sentence at least.

It doesn’t matter what the perp recalls or doesn’t recall.

He has been witnessed doing a criminal act.

Yet another sexual assault by a conveniently 'drunken' slob. Put him in prison and 'conveniently' forget where the keys are.

Intoxicated at 6:50 p.m. is not a good sign. I am a bit startled that a 71 year old man still has enough testosterone to be interested in that sort of thing, and if so he should pursue in a legal and consensual manner.

@Redemption: I just turned 70 and believe me when I say my testosterone level isn't suffering. I'd never do what that guy did, but please don't throw those of us who have aged well enough to still get it up under that proverbial bus of yours.

Wow! Duly noted. May you continue to rise to the occasion.

Your point is not clear to me here BRS.

What are you trying to say?

Let me clarify my point for you, BYU.

Learn Japanese.

Don't automatically accept what English-language media tell you; fact-check what you read in these pages with Japanese sources.

Clear enough?

That's exactly what they do. Any forceful touching of another person without their consent is sexual assault.

Fortunately, the legal system recognizes differences in kind and degree.

Understand?

I hope I'm still as "genki" as you when I hit 70 Trevor.

But in general, is it not true that most people have less of a desire for sex as we age?
