Police in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 71-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he hit a resident of his apartment building on the head with a hammer.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sankei Shimbun reported that a man called 110, saying that his younger brother had been attacked with a hammer by a man who lives downstairs.

Police rushed to the scene and found the victim collapsed in his apartment, bleeding from a head injury. He was taken to hospital, where doctors said his injury was not life-threatening.

Police said the suspect, Nichizo Nishihara, who lives in the apartment below the victim, has admitted to the charge. Other residents said Nishihara and the victim had often quarreled about noise coming from each other’s apartment.

No comments about “dragon lady”? “neither hot nor young”? - You are selective about ‘who & what’ you engage. ‘Ageism’ obviously isn’t one of your causes. - Areweright?

No comments about how wrong it is to publish the name of the accused before they've been found guilty?

After all, the police force confessions; and the victims might very well be mistaken or lying. Amirite?

Seniors having anger issues is a regularity on the crime blotter. The dragon lady next door to me back in the early nineties complained about everything. If the roaches walked too heavily she would call the cops but I knew her main problem was I was a gaijin with a young hot Japanese wife and she was neither hot nor young. Her kids were angels, though, and never made any noise at all. We went at it regularly.

My neighbors should never have had children. They are terrible parents, but no other neighbors complain.

Here we go again about noice leaks that triggered a case of murder. People in Japan need to accept we all live in tight spaces and nighttime noises will never go away.
