Police in Hiroshima on Monday arrested a 71-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her 48-year-old son.
According to police, Mieko Nakajima is accused of stabbing her son in the neck several times at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Kyodo News reported that Nakajima’s second son, who lives elsewhere, came for a visit at around 6:30 p.m. and called 119 when he saw his brother bleeding from the neck.
The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said none of the wounds were deep and that his life was not in danger, although he will require two weeks in hospital.
Police said that Nakajima has so far given no motive for attacking her son.

He was bleeding from the neck for two hours?

What, is he unemployed and living with mom and she got fed up and decided to stab him? Pretty cold. Even if the stabs weren’t deep, bleeding from the neck for two hours??? Jeez, I think I owe my mom an apology.

You really should read the story a bit more carefully before commenting.

Sounds like perhaps the son living at home is disabled.

Sure sounds like she intended to end his life. What could drive his mother to go that route?

@Dukeleto
Did I read something incorrectly in the story? He was bleeding for two hours before his brother found him. Anything I didn’t read correctly?

Considering the high number of reported familia murders going the other way recently, (kids killing parents), maybe she was just being proactively self defensive?????

Japan has a problem with family murders. And so do other countries, I know. However other countries acknowledge this. Japan does not. Sweep! Sweep!

How are the mental health and social services going, Japan? Are these cases of familicide doing anything to improve and make the public more aware of these aforementioned services?
