Police in Hanyu, Saitama Prefecture, have arrested a 71-year-old woman on suspicion of killing her ailing 72-year-old husband.

According to police, Hitomi Oshima strangled her husband Mitsuo at around 2:50 p.m. on March 7, Sankei Shimbun reported. She then called 110 and told police she had killed her husband.

When police arrived, they found Oshima, with a self-inflicted knife wound to her neck, and her husband lying on a futon in his bedroom. Mitsuo was declared dead at the house, while Oshima was taken to hospital where she is in a stable condition.

Police quoted Oshima as saying she had grown weary of being her husband’s caregiver.

She should be tried as a murderer. Life in prison would be best for her miserable self. She’s a cold blooded murderer

I do wonder why some posters hate Japanese women so much.

Yes, she killed (allegedly) her husband. But we have no idea just how much she had to deal with at that age and with illness involved.

A tragic situation, and one that needs compassion - not blind, misogynistic hatred.

Like I have been saying for years now, do YOU wanna grow old in Japan....

THIS is HOW Japan is ""taking care"" of a LOT of old folks, by letting them go insane & eventually considering, doing or attempting murder\suicide.

The present in GRIM, the future...…...much worse!!

I didn't even have to read the story, just looked at the reason and knew this was the reason. The old taking care of the old and this always happens! I say this because I read this on this site all the time and this is 100% always the reason!

No sympathies from me, stop the brutal murders.

Old folks who retire pay into nursing home care after 70. Kaido insurance.

Folks, as you get Old - all forms of nasty medical things can happen to you. If you're Married, then your other-half may be forced to look after you, unless of course, you're super wealthy and can afford a Nursing home.

It may be worth considering looking at purchasing a Nursing Care Insurance, if you think, you may be at risk of a similar fate in future.

RIP & yes, I do feel sorry for her.
