A 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 9-year-old girl by kissing and touching her in his car in March.
According to police, the incident occurred in March in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward. Police said the suspect, Toyokichi Fukiyama, a part-time worker, lured the girl into his car where he fondled her and kissed her, Fuji TV reported.
Fukiyama and the girl are neighborhood acquaintances and he would often say hello to her as she went to and from school, locals said.
Police said Fukiyama has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he had committed other obscene acts with young girls.
The case came to light in November after the girl, now 10, told her mother what happened. Her mother then contacted police.

Another creepy lech brought into the spotlight. It's about time Japan started a child sex offenders list and made it public. Unfortunately, it would be an extensive list, but citizens have a right to know what kind of creep is moving in next to them.

Anyway, the guy must have been doing this for the past 50 years at least. My g/f described an encounter with such a fellow as she was walking home from school as an elementary school student.

Nothing will happen to him. Nothing. Too many old scumbags here get away with this crap, and at BEST pay some compensation money to the victims. They feel entitled to do it. Japan needs to get serious with this; put him in prison for 10 years, minimum. And if it's proven he's done it more than this once, put him in there for life.

I've heard this type of story from several women in Japan when they were in elementary through high school including my wife whether it is men exposing themselves or trying to lure them into their car.

As a creepy older guy with kids and grandkids, I agree 100%. I only briefly greet kids from our mansion when they are alone, and if I converse with (or teach) them in front of their parents, I tell them (parents) my name, apt#, and profession.

These stories of kiddie fiddlers breaks my heart. I'm a child psychologist here in Japan and when I hear stories like these from children, you can't imagine the damage these monsters do to their fragile minds and futures.

There's a supermarket in between my station and my school, it has a seating area outside. I sometimes stop there to eat my lunch. I once watched an old guy, definitely 70s maybe older, start conversations specifically with young mothers who had toddler boys with them. He would ask general questions about the boys, but at some point during the conversation he always had to touch them (the boys). He didn't grab their crotch or anything, but I notice he always made a point of touching them somewhere. It was creeping me out, and you could tell one or two of the moms felt really uncomfortable, but they still wouldn't say anything. I'm not sure why. This happened three or four times while I was there.
