Police in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, have arrested a 76-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his neighbor, a 73-year-old man who was found dead in a pond on his property.
Masao Ishiwatari was found dead floating in the pond at his residence at around 1 p.m. Sunday by police officers. Police had received a call from a relative of Ishiwatari's neighbor Toru Ueki, saying something had happened, Fuji TV reported.
Ueki was quoted by police as saying that he got into an argument with Ishiwatari, which turned into a fistfight, on Nov 6. Ueki told police that Ishiwatari fell down and stopped moving, so he rolled him into the pond.
Police said Ueki has admitted to the charge and told them he had been having trouble with Ishiwatari regarding raw sewage and that he had filed a complaint about it with police last April.

So much for the solcial "wa" and communal harmony concept here.. . . but then your neighbor's "raw sewage" problem might be cause for concern.

Dang. No doubt it was never intended to end this way, but that is why the say to never let your anger get the better of you. A shame. One man dead, another whose life is now virtually over. I suppose the only silver living is that Ueki won't have to worry about raw sewage now. And I don't say that to be funny, but, rather, I just wonder what Ueki will be thinking to himself as he sits in prison. That this was all because of being upset over raw sewage.

He'll never go to prison!

What does this mean? Was Ishiwatari fouling Ueki's lawn?
