Court upholds 23-year imprisonment for 2 men over fatal street racing

The crime is shocking. If it were the father, wife, and daughter killed and the crime had stopped there then maybe... Just maybe it would have been defensible as a tragic accident yet still one with a hefty penalty for the two responsible. That last line though... That changes the whole incident... These two guys don't deserve any leniency at all.

Ultimately, the police are not doing enough to discourage this kind of wild night racing. It's not about driver education - it's about cracking down and busting drivers for flagrant traffic law violations. People continue driving like maniacs because they know that the chance of getting caught is very slim. The local cops should be fined for allowing this kind of thing to happen in the first place. The buck stops with them.

SO the people convicted of crimes should not have the right of appeal because you think it's wrong?

Typically justice will be served, everyone deserves their day in court, or would you prefer to skip the court process and just give them both a bullet to the back of the head?

They deserve more than 23 years. I was nearly killed few days ago by a middle age women driving at about 80 km/hr ignoring the red light.

That's very true -- in fact, that's the understatement of the year. These two guys were 28, so who knows how long they were doing this sort of thing without any intervention by law enforcement.

Last year while out for a walk one night, I was waiting at an intersection for the crosswalk light to change. When it turned green for me (or blue, as they call it here), I didn't start walking right away because I saw a bozozoku car coming down the street -- and I just had a hunch that he wasn't going to stop.

Sure enough, he blew right through the red light. If I had started crossing the street when the light changed, which I had right of way to do, I would have been right in that a**hole's path.

Does someone here ever reported tailgating? There's this "oyagi" in his mid 60's who lives within my area that scares me when he drives too close. My kids usually sits at the back and one time I had to pull over and let him pass.

@Giveme_abreak The only way to deal with tailgaters is to slow down to a speed that makes the situation safe for you. If you are on a multi-lane road, change lanes to let them pass. There's no point endangering yourself and your family because the person behind you is an idiot.
