Police in Osaka have arrested a 79-year-old man on suspicion of selling DVDs with obscene content in the Airin district in Nishinari Ward.
According to police, Tatsumo Ikeyama was arrested at around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday for selling pornographic DVDs, Kyodo News reported. Police said Ikeyama opened a stall and was selling the DVDs for 200 yen each.
Police said they warned Ikeyama to stop selling porn DVDs on Aug 31. During a crackdown on Wednesday, police found Ikeyama in possession of 290 porn DVDs. They are also questioning him about where he obtained the DVDs.

Elderly man, trying to survive in a rough area selling outdated tech to similar elderly who can't even access smartphones, targeted by hard-working police in "crackdown".
New at 11.

The J-cops might be better off stopping real crime for a change-how about riding the late night trains once in a while?

If he had been selling them someplace else would that be OK?

Perhaps he just selling his own collection, he is old enough where he lived where there's no restriction to blur certain part of actor/actress body.

Selling porn DVDs at 6:45 am on a Wednesday………man, that’s dedication.

The people of Osaka must feel relieved to know that this hardened criminal will no longer be able to compete with other purveyors of porn, thanks to their fearless, diligent and vigilant police force!

I would like to believe this is the real reason for the arrest, to get a hold of a possible bigger distributor and not just an old guy selling things for 200yen.

Always worth checking stuff like this, especially at such a cheap price. If they are released titles rather than home made, then they may be quite rare.
Given their content, porn films have low survival rates. They are usually binned after the owner expires rather than sold.

Victimless crime.

Cops : Why are you selling these DVDs at this early hour?
Ikeyama : Cause everyday I'm hustlin'! Everyday I'm hustlin'! Don't hate the playa, hate the game, son!
Cops : ....................................what?

Is this banned content, like with removed mosaics? Because Japan has a thriving and legal porn industry, and I see old titles on DVDs and VCRs in second-hand stores.

Not clear what the crime here is. Porn is legal.

The more likely reason is it was an easy arrest, and makes it look like they're doing their job.

It's free on the web.

exactly. And if the issue is no mosaic may I direct the cops to pornhub, pornzog, youporn, porntube, and even dailymotion- all that have uncensored porn with tons of different fetishes. all accessible from their sumafon

Not uncommon to see Japanese pornographic DVDs and videos sold at temple and shrine flea markets over my years in Osaka. Is this where the guy was selling them?

That is dedication. But I can’t remember the last time I actually used a dvd player. Laptops don’t even have the drives anymore. Really makes no sense when you can watch any and every freaky niche porn genre online with the click of a button for free. As others have said though the arrest probably has more to do with how he acquired the dvd’s rather than selling them.

People should go for a walk around Nishinari. I used to do charity work there. It is a real eye opener for those who are lucky enough to earn ¥200,000+ a month.
people there are friendly, and have pride. But society has forgotten them.

Gotta have a reason to get out of bed every day.

Quite funny news! There is a Netflix series The Naked Director, about the Japanese porn videos industry that started with video tapes. Poor man, retirement pension is so low that obliges him to sell accessible entertainment videos to offline people that cannot afford to pay for expensive internet access .

Who cares as long as all the actresses are 18 and older.
If not, then throw him in prison and throw away the key.

The guy can't afford Private care, and when doing nothing wrong, the Government doesn't care, but now, perhaps the Government will care for him ? The irony of it all ! I feel sorry for the old Kodger.

Hopefully he’s charged with ripping people off by making them pay for something they can get on the Internet for free.

At almost 80 he finally lost interest... must have been single all his life!
