8 restaurants robbed in one night in Saitama

Police said Monday that eight restaurants were robbed in Saitama Prefecture on Saturday night and early Sunday morning in what police believe to be a series of connected incidents.

Police say that each of the eight restaurants that were robbed were located within a 5-km radius in Kawagoe, Fuji TV reported. The stores, which included sushi and yakiniku restaurants, each had their doors forced open by a crowbar-like tool after closing.

telica: Is it just me or is there a lot of crime in Saitama?

--- Saitama is one of the smallest prefectures with one of the largest populations. It's kind of like inner city Japan... Saitama to Tokyo is kind of like New Jersey to New York.

Harry_Gatto, I agree. The misuse of the word awesome drives me crazy especially in situations like this blatant serial burglary. Unawesome!

This software is diabolical, the first sentence is the quote and the second sentence is my question.

but 8 restaurants in one night by the same gang is awesome. Just how is robbery (stealing someone else's property in case you didn't know) and property damage awesome?

Maybe they wanted to steal food for a big barbeque.

The restaurants were closed and yet they were robbed? I am assuming the cash registers were empty since the restaurants were closed. You count your register to know how much Yen was made that evening right, So what was stolen? Food, Liquor What??

Love to see that famed "Just in Time" Nipponese efficiency in action.

On the other hand, WTF? Breaking into an eatery? Small potatoes! (It's a pun, son)

As my Dad once told me, "Son, why rob a grocery store when there's a bank across the street?"

Kawagoe? What is wrong with Kawagoe? It's where you cross the river, right?

I hope this didn't happen in Kawagoe.

It was Kawagoe

Editor: The story says that.

Is it just me or is there a lot of crime in Saitama? It seems to be mentioned very often when I read the crime articles here.

By the way Saitama is a big prefecture !! It would be nice to have information like was it in Tokorozawa?? Or maybe Kumagaya?? Omiya?? All very far apart but all we get from this English translation that it happened in Saitama.

Moderator: It says Kawagoe in the second paragraph.
