An 8-year-old girl suffered major facial injuries after a man stopped her on the street and sprayed her face with a liquid in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, police said.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The girl was on her way home from school when an unidentified man got out of a car and asked her for directions, Fuji TV reported. The man suddenly pulled out a can and sprayed the girl’s face with a liquid before fleeing the scene.
A passerby saw the girl crying and contacted her school, which then called her parents and police.
Police said the girl suffered major skin inflammation and was taken to a hospital for treatment. According to doctors, it will take approximately three weeks for her to recover. Police did not say what the liquid was.
The man remains at large. According to the girl, he was wearing glasses, but she was unable to give a more detailed description, police said.

Freaking coward attacking little girls. Spray me or mine in the face and see if I don't stick that can where the sun don't shine.

Some things leave me speechless, and this is one of them. I can't see the yaks even doing this, I can't get my head around a motive, its a random senseless act, I hope all of the shops and every one in that area looks for any evidence on there CCTV cameras and hands it into to the cops. this plonker needs to be caught!
Luddite
Scumbag.
nandakandamanda
Put him in a western jail.

Beat that SOB
Disillusioned
Yeah, because they don't know what it was. Again, Japan is a safe place with a relatively low crime rate, unless you are a woman or a child, or both!

Reports coming in that police have arrested a 20-yr-old temporary worker, from steet camera footage. He admitted he used a tear gas canister on her.

Japan seems to have lost its traditional values and ethics due to too much of materialism and chase of it. On the other day it was reported that even to funeral, one need not get out of car and pay drive-in tributes to the departed soul, Even small children and girls are not spared in Japan is shocking.

What a wicked thing to do. Just plain wicked.

Absolutely uncalled for. This guy is a sadistic jerk and he's the same brat who threw things in class while you were in school. Now he's physically grown up, but he's the same boorish brat he always was. Now he's more dangerous and a total menace doing great harm to innocent people. Wicked, rotten, evil, uncouth, immature, self-centered, and just plain stupid. The perpetrator probably thinks he's being cute but he's just a snot-nose troublemaker and he needs to be punished for this inexcusable behavior.

As sick as one can get. Just catch him soon please.

There are certain things I can never comprehend. And this is one of them. WHY?

Police have made an arrest. The creep appears to be Yusuke Miyashita (宮下裕介) a 20 year-old temp worker from Tanabe city, and unfortunately for him 20 is the age of majority.
Hope they throw the book at him, and it would be awesome if they gave the girls' father, grandfather, and uncles 15 minutes with him alone in a locked cell.

I watched the report on the news this morning. Thankfully, a short distance from where she was sprayed, there was an elderly guy who helped her rinse her face and eyes repeatedly as they waited for the ambulance. Hats off to him.

sensei, your right, its nice to see that some one will jump in and help.

I'd love to meet this guy....

As in many other cases and crimes in Japan, isn't there a surveilence camera somewhere that caught his car plates or the incident? Find this man.
