Police in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, have arrested an 81-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill his 80-year-old wife by hitting her on the head with a hammer.
According to police, Toriichi Okazaki is accused of hitting his wife on the head with a hammer several times at their home at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, NTV reported.

Click on the crime section... pretty much every story is about someone killing one or more family members, probably since New Year's.

Reminds me of Paul McCartney's song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" about Maxwell who goes about plunking people with a hammer. 1969 Abbey Road song, perhaps this guy was a Beatles fan.
