Police in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, have arrested an 81-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her 82-year-old husband at their home.
According to police, the incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, TV Tokai reported. Police received a call just after 1 p.m. from a visiting relative who reported the stabbing.
Police said Taneko Takizawa is accused of stabbing her husband in the neck and chest as he lay in bed. The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said he was in a serious but stable condition. Takizawa also had knife wounds on both wrists, which police believe were self-inflicted. She was quoted as saying she had been arguing a lot recently with her husband.

Damn! I'd better be careful. Might be a good idea to hide all the sharp and pointy things we have around the house.

These stories make me sleep with one eye open, always say sorry, and make sure I clean the dishes properly.

Can't read this kind of articles without feeling this is just a symptom of much more serious social problems.

81 and 85 and they still have the energy to argue? - Surprised by the twist ending that this attempted murder/suicide was not the frequent “tired of caring for the elderly spouse” Japanese drama we read here almost daily.
