An 82-year-old man died from stab wounds after being found collapsed at the apartment building where he lived in Kyoto on Sunday night.
According to police, another resident of the building in Higashiyama Ward called 119 at around 8:50 p.m. and said a man was lying on a staircase landing between the second and third floors, bleeding from several wounds to his back, Kyodo News reported. The man, Kojiro Okada, was taken to hospital where he died 45 minutes later due to loss of blood, police said.
Police said the stairs are accessible from outside the building and believed the victim was attacked just before he was about to enter his apartment.

Not at all. It is a small minority - but if you read the crime sections of Japanese news you will see it is not that uncommon for gangs to have older members - often in senior roles. (In many other countries they'd have long been "knocked off" by rivals before retirement age!)

@Fighto so your assumption is every old man in their 60-70's should be commonly characterized as a gangsters? SMFH!! If that is the case I suggest when you get to that age join the club.
Was he a gangster known to police? (It's not uncommon for gang members in Japan to be in their 60s, 70s or 80s)

WOW, this mean the guy was being watched and it was a sneak attack bleeding from several wounds to his back, perhaps he never saw his attacker. Police said the stairs are accessible from outside the building and believed the victim was attacked just before he was about to enter his apartment.

We need a lot more information here. Was he involved in a dispute with another resident? Was he a gangster known to police? (It's not uncommon for gang members in Japan to be in their 60s, 70s or 80s)
In any case RIP.
Redemption
Sad. Make it to 82 then taken out by a thug.
