Police on Wednesday arrested an 83-year-old man for allegedly beating his wife to death at their home in Okaya, Nagano Prefecture.

According to police, Katsumi Sekiguchi beat his wife Sachiko, 80, about the face and stomach several times at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Fuji TV reported that a neighbor called police, saying that he could hear the couple fighting and it sounded like it was getting out of control.

Police rushed to the house and found Sachiko unconscious. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead about one hour later.

Sekiguchi has admitted killing his wife but has so far given no motive.

this is quite expected in a country full of aging pple

So just because people are old they should start murdering each other? I fail to understand your logic.

I worry about some of the people here's basic lack of compassion.

It happens because the moderators here censure and delete posts out of turn. One tends to lose compassion.

Moderator: Incredible the way you go off topic.

FadamorMay. 17, 2013 - 02:50AM JST This woman was most likely abused for a long time before this What prompted you to come up with this random guess?

What may have prompted him to that conclusion was that the man his wife to death, but I could be wrong.

"Sekiguchi has admitted killing his wife but has so far given no motive."

Some may find the following offensive so cover your eyes.

But to me he's an abusive sod that deserves to be treated as harshly as he treated her.

Yeah, he's in his 80's, but all that means he was abusing her for a very long time. Capital punishment should be handed out when it must be handed out!

How do you live a lifetime with a person then kill them. He deserves 17 years in prison.

Low values on life .

@thkanner

why is media mostly reporting negative news? man killed his wife... why not report... man bought flower for wife and she is happy now or 100 smiling people in tokyo...

I agree with you , if this continues, more and more death and killing will raise , someone will read this , and would say, " Hey , I cant stant nagging too anymore " . You know , this is happening only in 0,1 % of population , but when you read it constantly in news , you then got a feeling that 90 % want to do same thing , its pushing negative thinking in people minds .

We all die alone. Start getting used to it. You have from now until then to get ready...

he's 83, he probably figured he's got nothing to lose

Yes it is natural to argue and fight, but to kill is not natural. It is pure evil for what ever reason or excuse!

The sexism and lack of compassion in the comments here are really disgusting. Shame on you. Especially that abuse on women is so taboo everywhere in the world, journalists finally report it and you complain? What is this? Why should journalists only report about men giving some flowers.. In order to make men look good, are you that insecure? There are too many women who are abused and who have been abused in their life, and who are KILLED because of that every year, look at some damn statistics. They deserve to express themselves about it before it's too late, they deserve to be abe to find help and there is nothing better than the media for such a taboo and sensitive topic.

This poor woman must have been abused for years and years without being able to get out of this cycle of abuse, dying like this is so heartbreaking. RIP and I hope the man goes to jail for a very long time.

I'll never understand how people can kill members of their own family. Yes, we all fall out and argue, but to KILL?

RIP Sachiko.

Neon is right on the money!! Poor old woman gets killed by idiot abusive old goat!!

I find the lack of emotion coming from the comments here disturbing. This woman was most likely abused for a long time before this and making jokes about 'nagging' and feeling sorry for the man who will die alone because he murdered his own wife are completely heartless. And murder is not 'nonsense' either. I worry about some of the people here's basic lack of compassion.
