The body of an 83-year-old man was found in a rice paddy beside a road in Sosa, Chiba Prefecture, on Sunday morning, in what police believe was a hit-and-run.
According to police, the body of Shin Kawashima was found at around 6 a.m. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Kawashima had been knocked off his bicycle and fallen into the rice paddy, Sankei reported. His bike lay near the body.
