86-year-old man fatally stabbed at home; 56-year-old son arrested

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 56-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of fatally stabbing his 86-year-old father at their home on Sunday.

Police said they received a call from a woman at around 10 p.m. Sunday, saying that her younger brother, had stabbed their father at their home in Edogawa Ward, Kyodo News reported. The sister, who doesn't live there, said she was visiting her father and brother at the time.

Police rushed to the house and found an elderly man collapsed on the floor, bleeding from a knife wound to his chest. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In the same room, police found the man’s son with a knife wound to his neck. He was taken to hospital where doctors said his wound was not life-threatening.

Police arrested the man late Monday and quoted him as saying he had hated his father for a long time but that he did not mean to kill him.

I am trying to understand why this statement is always given when someone kills some one. Its similar to the quote "I don't remember" or "I was drunk" Lately the statement has been when the police arrest someone they say "I did not mean to kill him/her". If anyone knows please explain.

Oh no, not again!

Better social services please.

He hated his father? Yeah, I can see how having to not work and just live off pop's dime can make you angry. Don't worry, you'll be able to continue living off someone else's dime in prison.
