Police in Sukumo, Kochi Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 95-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 88-year-old wife by hitting her with a cane.

According to police, the suspect, Juko Hodooka, hit his wife Teruko on the back of the head many times with a cane as she sat in their livingroom. Afterwards, he called 119.

NTV reported that Teruko was taken to hospital where she died about an hour later.

Hodooka was quoted by police as saying that he and his wife were arguing and that he lost control and hit her.

Yes, but was the cane thinner than the width of his thumb?

At least he waited until he was 95.

On the Japanese news, they are reporting that he said he thought his wife was cheating on him. Everyone else said that she definitely wasn't. Delusional paranoia? Or was she having a fling with another man?

A lot of women are cheating these days. He probably checked LINE and found evidence.

In this case the cane was mightier than the sword and I wonder if we'll see a lengthy trial...
