Police said Takahashi admitted hitting a woman.

One tiny positive detail on the middle of this incomprehensible crime.

At least the prosecution will have an easy time in the trial.

To live 96 years and to die like that is so pitiful.

the legal limit is 0%. How do you have 2 times the legal limit of zero?

RIP, but 96 was a good innings, and maybe she had dementia and walked in front of the car?

in Japan the limit is 0.3mg x 1ml of blood (so 0.03%) or 0.15ml x 1L of breath. Two cans of beer is enough to push anybody over the limit for a while, so 2 times over the legal limit means she had the equivalent of 4 beers at least.

Untrue, according to medical professionals.

What medical professionals are you talking about? Any reference where this is demonstrated to be false?

Just claiming other people are mistaken without ever providing any evidence makes it obvious that you are just making baseless claims.

Incorrect. Two cans of beer will cause a BA of .063 in a 55kg person. Many Japanese women weigh even less. (My wife is ~45kg) That is double the limit here.

When I read this, all I could think of was my 96 year old Obaachan. Unforgivable!

Two times the legal limit means she drank a 16oz/350mg can of beer. That to me is not drunkenness. The old lady walking the street alone is a crime in itself. Why is no one looking after her whereabouts? Also, the law states NO DRIVING even after a sip of anything alcoholic. Here we have perfect example of ignorance and neglect coming head to head. The results are never positive. Where is this vulgar you dumbass moderator... I'm gonna see you tie to toe mf...

Most intelligent countries allow two cans in the first hour, then one each hour after.

the problem is Japanese have an intolerable reaction to alcohol. I have been to many countries, but never seen peoples faces turn red after one drink.

good point is they don’t have street fights, just vomit and sleep.

It takes two can of beers to surpass the limit, twice that would be four cans. Unless she has extremely low weight one can of beer is not even close to get her to that level (that is well described to impair driving skills).

Maybe that is your limit, but it is an unsubstantiated claim to apply that personal formula to everyone. Not all people are the same weight and height, and are the same gender, and other factors that medical experts attribute to the ability to consume and process alcohol.

Making generalizations about the quantify of alcohol needed is perfectly valid, unless you can prove the driver can't be included in one there is no problem with doing it, garypen made the same argument.
