Deleting phone data may be suspicious but is not a crime, yet.

Is their phone, they can do whatever with their phone.

wow ya think? I am sure the crims thought why don't I leave all the incriminating data on there...my god these guys are dumb. Hopefullly the "police" are at least advanced enough to be able to retrieve deleted data as it is never really deleted ...

The Metropolitan Police Department suspects the devices may have undergone a factory reset to hide information.

Time to put those hikikimoris and their infinite computer knowledge to work helping the police!

Don't have much confidence in Japan's tech forensic law enforcement abilities unfortunately.

So they have nothing to charge them with… probably why they looked so smug in those deportation photos.

Some of the devices were successfully unlocked and analyzed but…

i guess, in that order… lol

They will be held in jail with the rolling 21 days. Every 21 days the police will come up with another reason to rearrest them (Ghosn treatment) until someone is coerced into confessing to some crime. Most likely it will be unrelated, but it will be exaggerated to make the police look competent.

Uh oh.

The fate of these suspects lie in the hands of the best Japanese IT guys to find evidence?

Good news for the criminals, bad news for whoever are their next victims.......

These individuals were sending addresses to other individuals already in Japan. The question is how did the people in the Philippines get these Japanese addresses? I wonder if they had people working in city offices selling addresses of elderly residents. This should also be investigated.

Exactly… it’s impossible for this operation to be carried out from the Philippines unless there is someone located here who lays the groundwork with all the information about the address and who the occupants are, their movements as well! Clearly a lot more people involved who might be working at city offices or offices which have access to my number information!

Some of the devices were successfully unlocked and analyzed but were found to be close to what appeared to be an unused state, with hardly any data storage use, the sources said. The Metropolitan Police Department suspects the devices may have undergone a factory reset to hide information.

Someone from the outside whose task is to clean up evidence did a find my phone reset

And if they were not what you think ?

What are the evidence against them ?

If they expected to prosecute thanks to the content, will they release them ?

Something going wrong in the Japanese justice loop again ?

Should have kept them in the Philippines and locked them up there. Methinks it'd be a lot better for society than the freedom they get after the keystones here mess up.

Their is no law, saying you cannot reset your phone in America,if you have an pay as you go,this is the best kind of phone, their generally no name associated with it,just buy a service plan each month ,I lost almost 500000 minutes,my phone got locked,I got an unlimited data plan for 5 more, with the same company, but a different service they sell
