Beaten man left outside Chiba hospital dies; assailants flee in car

Two men left a badly beaten man in front of a hospital in Chiba on Thursday morning and then drove away, police said. The man died later.

According to police, a security guard at Chiba Medical Center in Wakaba Ward called 110 at around 4:45 a.m. and said two men had dropped off a badly injured man, clad only in his underwear, at the night entrance, Sankei Shimbun reported. He said one of the men asked him to take care of the victim before they drove away.

The security guard said the two suspects also appeared to be in their 20s.

Police said the victim, who was later identified as Tomohiro Shimamura from Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, had bruises all over his body.

But I'm just guessing that if they're innocent good Samaritans

I'm guessing they are not.

Doesn't matter what the intention was, they didn't accidentally beat him up so they should be charged with murder if they ever get caught...

Taking him to hospital suggests they had no intention to kill him.

Most likely yakuza, and the beating was meant to bring him into line rather than kill him. Still 2nd degree murder.

It's impossible to say that the guys who dropped him off are the perps or good Samaritans but I'd place a bet on the former. Most people are just not going to go through the trouble of getting involved in a beating by picking up and driving a guy wearing only his underwear and covered in blood and bruises to the hospital. They say dead men tell no tales but advanced forensics and eyewitnesses most certainly do so we'll have to wait to find out.

You are kidding right? Two men drops a man beaten to death and they are innocent? What tortured thinking process did you use to arrive to that stupid statement?

Toshihiro wrote "if they're innocent good samaritans, ...". I'm assuming he meant "if they were innocent, they wouldn't have dropped him off like that". The English wasn't perfect, but he already wrote "I wish the cctv's got a good look at those two dudes and their car.", so I thought it was pretty obvious based on the context that he thinks they are involved. Just saying...

Personally, I think it's pretty clear they are at least involved in some way, but we don't know if they actually carried out the beatings themselves. They are young, so their yakuza boss might have just ordered them to clean up someone else's mess.

People are so kind to each other here. Its a treat.

The headline describes the two men in the car as "assailants" so maybe the writer knows something we don't.

i would think if an innocent person found a bloody beaten body in underpants on the street, they'd call 110. and not go back and get your car, bundle the bloodied mess up inside and drop him off elsewhere...

but do your gangsters drop their victims off at hospitals when they finish roughing them up?

That reminded me of a Scottish comedian's comments when Glasgow had been shown to be Europe's most dangerous city and the UK's friendliest city in separate surveys published in the same week.

"You might get stabbed, but someone will give you directions to the hospital."

Not fair to compare gangsters and ordinary people. Don't know where you are from, but do your gangsters drop their victims off at hospitals when they finish roughing them up? I have heard of it happening other times.

whatever the guy's case may be, let's hope authorities in the very least find out his identity and his cause of death. I wish the cctv's got a good look at those two dudes and their car. But I'm just guessing that if they're innocent good samaritans, then they could've at least cooperated with the hospital in giving details about the victim.

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that the victim was a low-ranking host in the club where the others worked. I witnessed the same sort of thing just outside my mansion in hachioji. Two guys were beating and ripping the clothes off of one guy who was not resisting at all.

Wouldn't you normally tell the hospital your name. And how you find the man, or what happened. They didn't call to ask how he was doing.

and his cause of death

Read the article, it's written. He was savagely beaten.
