Lock him up.

Why did you get a minus, smith?
Goodlucktoyou
Child porn is made using innocent victims. He and group should all be in small, cold cells.

nandakandamanda: "Why did you get a minus, smith?"
Angry people from different threads would be my guess. Or, maybe someone just being consistant; I said the woman who put four infants in cement should be locked up and someone didn't like it, so likewise they don't like kiddie-porn addicts to be incarcerated. Seems like everyone suggesting the man be locked up is getting thumbed down, so perhaps there is a sympathizer on the board and/or a fan of this sick man.
Michael Jackson
It wasn't me. I'm with you on this issue. Sure he expressed deep regret, regret for getting caught. Put him and others like him away for a long time.
Haaa Nemui
Not me smith. I don't always agree with you but this time... yeah he needs to go away for an appropriate time.

Sick bastard!
Dan Lewis
He should have simply drawn his own! He's an artist after all!

Popular manga Rurouni Kenshin is now on hiatus... But Watsuki will be back for sure.
He will spend 1 year detention penning up the on-going arc in Rurouni Kenshin. And the 1 million yen fine will come out from his royalties.
Red suns
Watsuki was investigated for something else when they found out the loli DVD.
If recent events are any indication, it seems to be tax evasion going on in Shueisha (see Toriyama - author of Dr Slump and Dragon Ball series)

This is definitely the place to collect points, both plus and minus! Wooohaaaay!
I guess the guy has many fans of his work, so people might want to go easy on him. Disn't think much of a film of his they were showing on the plane, though.
This reminds me of many artists in the past who have caused huge controversy over societally unacceptable behaviour. Do you go with their art, or against the person and their beliefs or actions?
Shinjuku No Yaju
Wow. The shameful parade continues. Rurouni Kenshin was once of my favorites too. But no chance I’ll ever buy another book. Lock him up UNDER the jail.

Wait this is just an exception! There is no profound moral degeneration going on throughout the animation industry what-so-ever! The public morality is OK nothing should be do...
As if.
Daniel Naumoff
To be more serious and stop making fun of pathetic modern Japanese, I will defend Japanese animation, but this is not a part of it, it is the enemy of it. No idea what imbecile would defend his wrongdoings (and boy, such a famous series author, I wonder who is "coming out" next), but this kind of mental sin is not unique to Japan. It's just that way more citizens support it there than anywhere else.

Why does the publisher remark on his "regrets"? Bizarre.
Suzanne Starr
My #1 favorite manga, it's such a shame.
I hope he does his time to repent and sheds himself of that horrible hobby.

I am amazed he dodn't claim he only had it for "research purposes"!
Yep, a prison term would seem to be beckoning him.
Daniel Naumoff
I do not think being admitted to prison will do something in this case. Give him time to think it was wrong? Please. Scare him from possesing something like that again? Not impossible. A more subtle punishment would do more good. Unless he made the films himself.
Then again, I have seen examples of people doing crap, not critical, drug possesion or theft, and then turning over and being a great addition to the existing society. Japanese, I mean. He might just do the same. However, in this case, I am somewhat against even imprisoning him.
Haaa Nemui
For him you are probably right... It won't do a heck of a lot. For society it could do a whole lot of good. The guy is the creator of a very popular series in Japan. A prison sentence, even a token one, can send a message that it doesn't matter who you are. If you break this law you'll go to jail.
thetoleratedone
Slight difference between this and killing four children. Anybody notice what it is? Maybe not. Suspended sentence for the mother. 10 years prison for him. Happy now everyone.
Daniel Naumoff
Yeah now that last statement is another mental issue altogether.
