So many theories in this case, hopefully the police will make an arrest soon. How about a boyfriend or ex boyfriend of the eldest daughter, maybe the parents didn't approve, and why only the parents. Whoever it was I hope they find him quickly.

Tragic.

Completely random attacks are exceedingly rare here, and the likelihood of the perpetrator being somebody known to members of the family will be the default assumption of the police. The odds are whoever did this will soon be in police custody.

That does not look like a huge house, and I can't imagine how the killer went to the second floor, hacked the parents to death, the mom even made an emergency phone call, then he slashed one kid and sprayed the other, and the 21 year old girl didn't hear anything and continued sleeping? It is possible she was actually hiding, in that case maybe she has more info on the killer.

I see two people disagree that this was/is tragic.

I don't understand why they build houses here with the rooms not having locks. Is it case of saving on cost. Imagine if rooms could be bolted from inside, the killer couldn't have entered, besides, couples need privacy from their kids, with the japanese sliding doors that is not just possible.

A junior detective would generate a contacts list from the household's cell phone records and go from there.

Wait. Sliding doors? Does some article mention that house had them? Or have you seen some pictures anywhere? Or have you been there?

If not, what era are you talking about? True, a lot of OLD Japanese houses has sliding doors, but "westernized" houses are not at all rare. I would even say they are the majority.

And just saying, if you have to lock the door of your room because you are so afraid of a family member invading your room during your sleep... well, that's not a good family, sorry!

Once I visited a house in rural Aichi prefecture and was struck by the fact that the family dog just wagged its tail and didn't bark at me. What an idyllic place!

The police need to catch this person quick before he strikes again.

I shot tea through my nose from reading this. Thanks, I needed a good laugh!

come round to my place and you'll get 2.5 kg of pure fury in the form of a highly trained, killer attack chihuahua. No tail wag, very small bites, and a while helluva lotta barking(?).

macv: how was the boy injured?

The article stated:

"The 13-year-old boy sustained serious knife injuries to his legs and arm in the attack early Monday, which took place when he was asleep in a bunk bed in a second floor room with his 11-year-old sister, who suffered minor injuries to her hands."

It has been reported that the staff of a nearby used car shop/dismantling yard were enjoying a late-night drinking party on the night of the murders, at the same approximate time... Does that not seem somewhat unusual?

How is suggesting * ** may have been involved in this crime “off-topic”?

It seems very much on-topic to me.

The censorship on this website is ridiculous.

Not to me. What is your point?
