Saitama prefectural police have arrested a 53-year-old doctor on suspicion of stalking after he sent 353 text messages to a female bar employee.
Akira Miyazato, a medical doctor, faces allegations of violating the anti-stalking law, Fuji TV reported. According to the arrest warrant, Miyazato targeted a woman in her 20s working at a bar where he was a regular customer.
Miyazato called police from the bar on March 29 to report that there was some trouble at the bar. Police said the woman told them she wasn't interested in Miyazato's romantic attentions.
After listening to both sides, police warned Miyazato to stop contacting the female employee. However, he sent 353 consecutive text messages to her between March 30 and April 8.
Police said that since his arrest, Miyazato has told them he has nothing to say on the matter.© Japan Today
