Police in Chofu, Tokyo, said Sunday they have arrested a 59-year-old man over the hit-and-run death Saturday of a 53-year-old man riding a bicycle.
According to police, the suspect, Takashi Hoshino was driving a 10-ton dump truck when he hit Kenji Nakano who was crossing the street at around 2:55 p.m. Saturday, Fuji TV reported. Hoshino kept going but turned himself in at a koban (police box) about one hour later.
Nakano suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police said Hoshino, who has been charged with reckless driving resulting in death, told them he didn’t realize at first that he had hit someone.© Japan Today
