The getaway vehicle used by a former Gunma prefectural police officer wanted on suspicion of robbery has been found on a river bed in Toyama Prefecture, police said Tuesday.
According to police, Dai Miyakoshi, 37, an ex-assistant inspector, is suspected of stealing 10,000 yen and 30 beer coupons from a convenience store Tsumagoi, Gunma Prefecture, on May 2, Fuji TV reported. After the theft, Miyakoshi stole an SUV and fled to Toyama Prefecture.
The abandoned vehicle was found on Monday in the Jinzu River. Police said the car had been in the water for some time and believe it was washed downstream after heavy rain hit the area.
Police said Miyakoshi’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Stealing a SUV is more serious than ¥10000. Something is missing about how he robbed the combini. Knife, gun, injury?
