@socrateos: are you saying they questioned his wife?

Reckless:
Of course it happens to Japanese executives as well. A very famous case was, not a long ago, about Takafumi Horie of Livedoor.

No Business
The wheels of "justice" only work in Japan due to confessions. Without a confession, the prosecutors are screwed. They have no idea what they are doing if they don't get a confession. If Ghosn sticks to his guns and doesn't confess, he'll likely be found innocent. One good thing to come out of this debacle, is that the rest of the world can see how inept and unfit the Japanese "justice" system is.

So much baseless speculations!

Ghosn will win this if he continues to stand his ground and I hope he does. All government agencies they have a blank check and the Courts will side with them always and more over when it comes to the gaijin. I stood my ground when I had dealings with the government and they tried to break me and they out right were deceiving and were caught but I never got caught because I just told the truth and stuck to the truth. People told me to be nice, lol, my nice was the N. American nice and none of this Japanese suck up crap and boy when they got caught committing an illegal act they could not wash their hands fast enough from me.

For some reason, I have a gut instinct that they are innocent. But I don't know.

"proof that she never intended to run away from anybody
Yeah right, that is why she ran to France. Macron sent her back to Tokyo after he said
Au revoir
Reckless
This will simply allow the prosecutor to further humiliate the gaijin shachou. This would never happen with a Japanese.

Yeah, if I were in her shoes, I might have stayed far away, but I have a guilty conscience...

“Isn’t his son involved too?”
Carlos’ son, Anthony Ghosn, Shogun Investments, has been reported to be involved in funneling money that came through the Oman route. I think I saw a report that Anthony denied any wrongdoing.
JBird,
I also saw some reports in the Japanese news that the Japanese lawyer/s had convinced Carole that it is unlikely the prosecutors are thinking of arresting her and that she should submit to questioning. Going out and too busy to look for a link.

“I don’t understand why she is being interviewed in a court.”
If my memory serves, I think it’s because she declined the prosecutors’ initial request to voluntarily submit to their questioning. So they took the next step of requesting the court to order her to. It was in the news, should be able to google it.
Reckless
Terrible mistake on her part. I suggest she should have offered to take questions in France with a lawyer present at all times. Video conference is perfectly suitable to interview a witness.
tinawatanabe
His lawyer said in a press conference that he convinced her to take the questioning.

I don’t understand why she is being interviewed in a court.
That's where she's going to spend a lot of her time over the next several months. Wouldn't be surprised if she's arrested and put in detention. I am surprised she came back to Japan so quickly. Must be she really cares for her husband.

I don’t understand why she is being interviewed in a court.

people never learn do they, police or prosecutors never ever want whats best for you or your friends ... everything one might say to police will always be used against you. the only interview is to keep silent.
