Man arrested after confining ex-girlfriend with handcuffs, sexually assaulting her

Police in Nishi-Tokyo have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting his former girlfriend whom he confined with handcuffs in his apartment for three days.

According to police, Yu Kikuchi, a company employee, who was arrested on Tuesday, has admitted to the charge. Police said Kikuchi confined the woman, who is in her 20s, in his apartment from March 16 to March 18. He used handcuffs and duct tape to restrict her movements and sexually assaulted her.

The two met last year through an online dating service but the woman broke off their relationship in February. Police said the woman had been visiting Kikuchi to discuss the break-up. Kikuchi was quoted by police as saying they had an argument over the issue and when she tried to leave, he restrained her.

The woman was eventually able to seek help by contacting a friend on her smartphone.

Am I allowed to make that comment ?

Are you allowed to make that comment? No one is stopping you.

Do you have the right to comment while expecting no one will disagree? No.

In my opinion, there will always be naive people, with evil people taking adavantage of them. What is special in Japan is the level of naivety, or in fact what looks like more like immaturity or basic behavioural knowledge of what is risky, and wha is not.

You need to stop short at the assumption here that all of those people are women, or that women are more naive than men.

Basic rules : do not judge book by its cover, and clothes don',t make the man. It is a father's duty to tell that to your kids and especially girls.

I am sure all the women in the world will thank you for expaining that to them. As we are so naive and helpless, we need need men to constantly let us know that men are a danger to us.

Phew, is this thread rampant with unbridled misogyny! I feel for you, girl_in_tokyo. Know that all the downvoting haters are no-doubt the same men who don't care for a moment about a woman's experience. Not enough to listen to an actual woman, at least. (But enough to blame the victim, it would seem, if this page is any indication. For shame!)

I also think that men, not having experienced life as a woman, should refrain from making moral judgements about a women's character, or question her fitness, intelligence, judgement, or common sense in regard to how women react when they experience violence at the hands of a man.

or perhaps the part where I explain how society gaslights women into questioning their own judgement, and then criticizes them for not taking enough precautions?

If you play with fire, you're going to get burned.

Ah, I see. If a woman points out misogyny, she should not be surprised when men double down on the misogyny.

Unnecessary behavior.

To the man/men downvoting me: I wonder, which part you disagree with? The part where I say that women should not be blamed or critisized when they become victims of sexual assault, or perhaps the part where I explain how society gaslights women into questioning their own judgement, and then criticizes them for not taking enough precautions?

As I said, you need to make up your minds: is a woman misandrist for distrusting men and being cautious, or is she to blame when she does trust a man and he assaults her?

In addition, I wonder if you have ever critisized a man who was sexually assaulted for his bad judgement in being alone with the man who assaulted him, or for that matter, have you evver felt a man should be blamed for his own sexual assault because he was wearing sexy clothing?

I didn't think so. Downvote away - all you are doing is revealing the prevalence of misogyny, which I do thank you for. :)

What are your thoughts on this?

Police said the woman had been visiting Kikuchi to discuss the break-up.

I think I already made clear what I think, but ...

I think women are often gaslighted into trusting men they should not, and that the men they should not trust are very very good at using the social contract to make it difficult for women to question their motive without seeming "crazy" or "misandrist" or "overreacting."

I think women should be trusted to make their own judgements, and not have their entire ability to reason thrown into question or their common sense harshly critisized when their estimation of a man's character happens, THIS ONE TIME, to have been wrong.

I think men should be blamed when they attack women, instead of blaming the woman for not being a mind-reader and somehow magically knowing that this particular man, at this particular time, in this particular situation has the intention to harm her.

I think it is quite natural for people to trust that the people they chose for companionship are not likely to suddenly beat them up, restrain them, and rape them.

I think there are evil people who are very good at putting on an act and hiding the fact that they are evil.

I also think that men, not having experienced life as a woman, should refrain from making moral judgements about a women's character, or question her fitness, intelligence, judgement, or common sense in regard to how women react when they experience violence at the hands of a man.

That about covers it, I think.

@girl, my mind’s made up…never a good idea to go to an ex’s apartment after you just dumped them. If you have some personal items there it’s best to forget them. I’m sure you remember a couple years ago the girl who wanted to retrieve some stuff from her ex’s but didn’t want to go there. So she sent her friend…who was murdered by the ex.

Of course your mind is made up. You have all the confidence in the world, don't you, that you are the best judge of female behavoir, know what is right for us, can lecture us on how you think we should live our lives, and advise us as an authority on everything female. And you have this incredible unwavering certainty, even in the face of women explaining why you are wrong, because your penis tells you that you are right.

Congrats on that magic organ. No doubt it will guide you for your entire life.

This is not the actions of a “man” more like an insecure, emotionally immature male who deserves a stint inside.

I don't know about the premise. Three days would mean taking off whatever was keeping her from crying out loud or screaming, such as when she would be given food or water; three days would mean allowing her to eliminate waste; and so on. There's nothing in this story about threatening her with a weapon so surely there must have been some opportunity to cry for help or depart the premises.

Let's see if I can help you out here:

When you are smaller than the person who is treating you violently, when you have already been beaten, handcuffed, and raped, when you are not sure whether this person is going to violently murder you at any moment, you tend to do whatever that person tells you to do out of the hope that cooperation will keep you alive, even if its just for a little bit longer.

There is also a psychological condition caused by sheer terror that causes victims to freeze up. This reaction is very common among rape victims, which is why many women find themselves psychically unable to even move, much less able to actively fight back.

Now that you know this, I'm sure you'll never make such an incredibly insensitive comment again, eh?

A girl can hope, anyway.

Wonder why she thought it was a good idea to go to her ex’s apartment?

Woman: We women need to be careful around men, even men we know, because it's very hard to tell which men are good and which are bad. It's best to be cautious.

Men: MISANDRIST!

Woman: I thought I knew him well enough that I felt it was safe to go to his apartment. I trusted him and he betrayed that trust!

Also men: Why U trust men, this UR fault!

Make up your damn mind.

Guess the man never learned the concept of consent. He also apparently never learned how to deal with rejection and breakups. Twat. Jail time for him please.

Fortunately he had a job. Fortunately he let her keep her smart phone. Fortunately her friend believed her and informed the police. She was very fortunate

I'm assuming you don't believe the story? Nothing surprises me about these frustrated loonies surprises me any more.
