Man arrested for attempting to kill 15-year-old girl at her request

Police in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly tried to kill a 15-year-old girl who posted a message on social media that asked for someone to kill her.

According to police, Yoshiteru Ashida, 43, who is a temp worker, saw the girl’s post on an SNS site last Sunday night and sent her a message saying, “If you come to my house, I can kill you,” Fuji TV reported.

The girl went to Ashida’s house. When he tried to strangle her, the girl  changed her mind and fled from the house early Monday morning. She called her mother from a nearby convenience store. Her mother called the police and the girl was taken into protective custody by police.

Ashida has admitted to the charge but claimed he didn’t really intend to kill the girl, police said. He was quoted as saying that if by chance he had killed her, he would have killed himself, too.

I swear! Japan just gets weirder by the day!

So the guy, minding his own business until reading the girl's message, would also kill himself should he have succeeded in killing the girl. Are you serious?

So, a 15 year old girl posts on a website looking for someone to kill her. This loser replies and then states he would have killed himself after killing her., but things went south and neither of them ended up dying? What is the fascination with death among Japanese? There seems to be a never ending precession of deluded and disillusioned people in this society who long for death over life.

The news is really getting me down these days

It's my opinion that this kind of thing ( the need to kill people for no reason) ALMOST APPEARS to be in their DNA. Again, my personal opinion.

Japanese news papers/net papers are getting better at saying nothing about who. Kudos, due to the Japanese law about defamation. So stories like this start popping up more and more showing the real picture ;-)

People are so freaking dumb. That includes both of them.

Japanese people give up so easily, and death is the only way out? Come on... how weak.

The bright side of the story is that she changed her mind, and hopefully she'll get the help that she needs. I also hope that the man involved can get things sorted, because he sounds mentally ill as well.

Sounds like she was desperate to just meet someone.

Really sad story .... Everyone needs some kind of help these days to cope. However agreeing to kill a very desperate depressed teenage girl is truly sick. Her parents should take notice and the police should lock up this pervert before he acts out his fantasy again ! What a way to get-off, try self abuse over murder any day

WHAT an IDIOT this guy should have contacted the police and showed them her posted message. She never should have posted such a message or went to the guys house. Glad she changed her mind and ran away. Pretty obvious she needs some help and so does he.

What is wrong with these people? I think I've reached my limit with weird news.

Teenagers thinking their world hit the dead end and wanting to die, that's not unusual, teens always have emotional ups and downs, and that is when an adult comes and tell them to hang in there right?

For her to post that she wanted to die was actually a sign of her SOS.

The guy asking her to come over so he could kill her, that's dumb.

Teens often (not always) say they want to die but they really don't know what they are talking about.. they'd be too scared to die, when good things happen to them, they'd forget the entire reason why they even wanted to die.
