Police in Masuda, Shimane Prefecture, have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend’s elementary school son, rupturing his eardrum.
Police said Tetsuomi Toyoda, a construction worker who was arrested on Monday, has admitted to assaulting the boy, local media reported.
According to police, Toyoda allegedly punched and kicked the boy inside his girlfriend’s car between 6:40 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. The child suffered a rupture to his right eardrum and injuries to his knees. His mother was behind the wheel at the time.
Later on Sunday night, the child was seen walking the streets alone and taken into protective custody by police.
Police said they are questioning Toyoda and the boy’s mother to find out if one or both of them regularly abused the child.

Girls, there are a lot of men out there who see your children born to other fathers as "left over reminders" of your past. You don't need these men. Your kids really don't need them. Keep looking. there are also some good ones out there!

So she's blameless is all this is she?

Agreed. What was he doing out in his own wandering the streets? Dark and cold these days. No decent mother would let that happen.

It's so sad for the boy.

Lock those 2 monsters both up and find a loving home for that poor child.

It's likely the mother was living in fear of violence and would do nothing for fear of retribution.

What a piece of crp! Both the woman and man should get serious jail sentences. Woman is the one picking these creatures to bring home. She can’t be too innocent.

An assault causing actual bodily harm would get him two years inside in many places.

Unjustified and inexcusable.
This is child abuse, plain and simple. Get him into safety and safe care.

The mother has allowed the abuse because it’s more important for her to have a boyfriend than to protect her son. Charge her as well.
