Man arrested for putting girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter in washing machine

Police in Tokai, Ibaraki Prefecture, have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of injuring his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter by placing her in a washing machine and turning it on.

According to police, Hideaki Masui, a self-proclaimed construction worker, put the child in the washing machine at around 8:40 a.m. on Sunday at their apartment, Kyodo News reported. The girl suffered injuries to her arms and legs as she spun around.

The girl’s mother immediately noticed something was wrong after the washing machine began to fill and spin with water and contacted the police.

Police said Masui, who was intoxicated at the time of his arrest, has denied the allegation. They are questioning the child's mother on whether or not he has abused the girl before.

Where do these women find these losers?

This is a good question and I can assure you it's everywhere the same, and not only in Japan, there is no shortage of ordinary average men who will never harm a woman and would really like to have a female friend but are rejected, belittled and derided - and such losers like this one find plenty of women who are running after them.

This man should be in prison, no question about that.

I can only say that women have to change their criteria how they choose their men, in this case this woman should have rejected this violent drunkard from the very beginning on. Not even willing to try.

8.40am intoxicated?!

According to the news, he had been drinking all night so that was his (*)jikai. Which is absolutely no excuse. I would pass out before having the idea to put a child in a washing machine.

Good on the woman to call the police on this moron immediately. Now do the right thing and kick him out of your house.

This depraved and seriously deranged individual has already denied the crime, but he was drunk at the time, and at that time in the morning. No doubt his defence will run with this, 'well, he was drunk and did not know what he was doing',....but he was sober enough to put this poor little girl in that machine and turn it on. The police shoud charge him with attempted murder because that's what is was, but I doubt he will receive much punishment, may be 2/3yrs in prison or even a suspended sentence.

Being drunk or not, where do these people learn about such stupidity?

Put him behind bars for a very long time.

Even if the judge doesn't like kids, the guy can still be charged for willful damage of property (washing machine).

8.40am intoxicated?!

As the wise sage said, "it's 5:00 somewhere."

wtf?

I have 3 kids, and 4 grandchildren... and that is not how you give a kid a bath!

They are questioning the child's mother on whether or not he has abused the girl before.

It's kind of hard to imagine that putting a three-year old in a washing machine and then turning it on was the first incident of abuse by this guy.

Not defending the guy by any means but the article said the suspect was intoxicated at the time of arrest. That was probably later in the day. Still, the gun needs some time alone in a prison cell.

Okay, you say you're not defending him and I'll take you at your word but then what is your point? Are you just being pedantic with regards to when exactly he became drunk?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

He was drunk at 8:40am? This loon has more issues than just being a child abuser.

The man is pure evil ! Throw him in prison! I wonder if child abusers get the same harsh treatment from other inmates in Japan prisons as they get in The US!

Pathetic scumbag, deserves gallows.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

I hope the girl isn't seriously injured.

What a barbaric thing to do. On top of this punishment being barbaric, I suspect it will also have been driven by unrealistic notions about what young children are like and how they should behave. Three year olds say "iya da!" a lot. The solution is to suck it up and do what you can do show disapproval, naughty step might work on some kids if timed correctly. What you don't do is start hitting them, lock them outside on the balcony, drive to a mountain and abandon them, or put them in the washing machine.

Punishment should fit the crime.

NHK is reporting that attempted murder charges are being considered.

Super sad and greatly stressful knowing horrific criminal act happened... It is likely in court this man may claim mentally ill etc which may allow him to have less legal punishment he deserves. This man must be in confinement for life.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

It's impossible to fathom the depravity of this seriously deranged individual - just imagine the utter terror the poor little girl must have gone though.

This could easily have ended fatally, he had no way of knowing if the water-level had risen too much, or that the machine-cycle could be stopped, or that the door could become jammed-shut...... All of these details will be revealed in court, when he should be facing attempted murder; whatever the judge sentences him too, it would never be enough. Lock-up and chuck the key, end-of.

At least the mother called the police. So often the mother goes along with it in these stories.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I am intrigued about the moment that the mother noticed there was something wrong because the machine started to fill with water and spin. Why didn't she notice it before? And why did she thing that water spinning in a washing machine was abnormal?

Single mothers are often easy prey to psychopathic misfits. They’re lonely and they badly need a male partner. I hope the girl will be OK.

Hideaki Masui.

Sounds like a fake name from a Hideki Matsui fan who tried to give a bogus name, but was too stupid to even do that.

Lock him up for life. Or like others said, throw him in the cement mixer. Either way, would be a win.

garypen, I understand your impeccable logic. But as I cannot push repeatedly the counter of approval, I am writing this comment. It may be possible that JT writers have already a pre-written text to save time for writing their articles about crime. Or that they use a preprogrammed bot to write the stories. Who knows! Anyway, I appreciate your logic, something extremely rare in the world.

Why do these women choose men who are creeps over their children?

Since the birth of my child, I chose by choice to be solo for my child's safety both mentally and physically. It has not been easy and continues not to be easy, however, that is my job as a parent.

a self-proclaimed construction worker

Isn't the job of everyone mentioned in these articles "self-proclaimed"? How else is their job determined other than asking them, and them "proclaiming" the answer?

4 ( +10 / -6 )

self-proclaimed construction worker...

i think this is code for wannabe yakuza.

put him in a concrete-mixer, turn it on, and ask him how it feels!!

I just can't read these horrific crimes.
