Man arrested for stealing pizzas from delivery driver’s bike

Police in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, have arrested a 30-year-old man for stealing pizzas from a delivery bike last year.

Police said the man, who works as a hairstylist, has admitted to the allegation and quoted him as saying, “I wanted to save money.”

According to local media, the man is accused of stealing an insulated carrier bag containing two pizzas from the delivery bike in an apartment parking lot last July. The stolen pizzas were both large-sized, topped with tomatoes and charcoal-grilled chicken, worth approximately 7,000 yen.

The suspect, who was identified after an analysis of surveillance camera footage taken near the parking lot, told police that when he saw the bike unattended while the driver was delivering pizzas to someone in the apartment building, he wanted to eat pizzas but also save money.

Make him clean the filthy kitchen and ovens of that pizza joint for a month as punishment.

Can’t afford those moon priced pizzas too, lately. But that’s not a reason to steal them from a delivery bike. If all poor people would do that, the whole country would run out of pizzas within a few minutes. lol

If he stole them in July and he was just arrested now, they could possibly be cold by now.

Pizzas in Japan are obscenely expensive for some unfathomable reason but that doesn't give this man the right to nick them. What an odd thing to do.

the real criminals were the pizza place that charged that much for two pizzas.

I thought male hairstylists in japan were seen as “cool and gets all the women?”

shouldn’t he get one of his “women” to buy him a pizza instead?

or is that just a stereotype and only happens on terrace house and Kimu Taku dramas?

Pizza was never meant to be a delicacy that only the well off can afford. It’s an affront, the prices charged.

But a man who works for a living should know his actions hurt other working people...

I've often thought about sneaking up to one of those pizza delivery scooters when the driver wasn't around, and surreptitiously putting the pizza back into the insulated bag. Mayonnaise, cream cheese, and potato? No. Just no.

Well, at least now he can save the dough he earns pressing plates in the clink.

Like it or not..

The pizza thief was not starving. He was just greedy. So he cannot be excused and, must be sentenced to 2 nights in jail and, repay the cost of the pizza.

I wonder how many hours were spent tracking down the culprit. No doubt interviewed the pizza shop owner (eg freebies) in search of clues. (pizza dimensions, toppings) New advertising gimmick "with every haircut, a generous slice of pizza!"

Stealing them from the bike was a costly error. If he'd stollen them from the shop, they'd have been worth half that much.
