Please don't call this abuser a "man".

Shocking your children with a shock collar is pure assault and the children should be removed from his custody as soon as possible.

As for the new law "prohibiting corporal punishment" it will be as effective as the current law which prohibits murder and abuse.

Sadly laws don't stop, they deter. There needs to be some serious action taken against people that break the law when it comes to protecting young children.

No excuse for what this gentleman did. Uncalled for and punishment should hopefully be swift.

As a student I can remember corporal punishment in school. You get out of line and a coach would paddle your behind and we got back in line, immediately. I think I turned out pretty well as well as my friends and the teachers had control of their classroom. These days I would not consider teaching students - the pendulum has swung too far to the left. I think the majority of the issues with youth today is due to lack of discipline at home and school (unfortunately litigation). My source: my sister is a counselor for suspended school youth and their parents. She said under no circumstances should I teach part-time. It's out of control.

Sorry, this isn't Corporal Punishment, it's Sadism and applied to Kid is downright wrong, and the Parents should be rightfully prosecuted for Child abuse.

Slapping an unruly Kid should not end up with you in Court - but that's sadly where things are heading, and frankly, that is pretty much going to be the Nail in the Coffin for Japan's population.

Abuse, needs to be clearly separated from Parental control. And talking of which - Apple Inc, isn't helping by not fixing their Screentime bugs (so resist buying iPhones for your Kids - no matter what the Softbank Salesperson says.... they'll just be rotated in a few months time anyway to avoid issues over their Lies ...)

@juminRhee - In the US I have already seen leashes for kids...not too far off from collars.

No similarity at all, leashes are to control while collars are to punish. Children's lives have been saved by a leash preventing them from running into traffic, etc.

I guess you are pretty young. My mother used to use a harness and lead on me over 50 years ago. They are nothing new.

I have some experience with both kids and dogs. What you do is talk with them. It may be a little more time-consuming in the short term, but it pays off.

So, this weirdo thought it was totally acceptable to use a taser on his teenage kids? Would anybody like to discuss the mental health issues in japan?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Tasers, stun sticks, trackers, cellphone jammers and other electronic exotica are all to be found around Akihabara. Just peer into some of the glass cabinets at the little stalls. Not advertised as such, but you can buy them.

It was in fact, a training collar for dogs, manufactured in China (probably available on Amazon but I do not use Amazon). It is intended for the suppresion of excessive barking (WAN WAN urusaku hoeru). It consists of 2 parts: a collar, worn by the dog and a remote control unit, held by the dog owner....when the barking persists, the owner presses the rimokon button and ZAPP!!! the recalcitrant pooch gets a shock in the neck.

*That being said, they should only be banned for dogs .*

Fixed it. As in my opinion some people deserve that collar.

According to the TV it was a training collar for dogs rather than a stun gun.

That being said, they should be banned for dogs too.

Where do these weapons come from in Japan?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Japan needs to rethink their society rules.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Unfortunately, the new government laws declare these people can only be URGED not to do such things -- they can't really be punished, and the kids can't be kept in social services.
