Man arrested over attempted rape of teenage girl

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to rape a teenage girl in her apartment in Setagaya Ward.

According to police, Masaya Yoshida, a part-time worker living in Setagaya Ward, has admitted to the charge, Fuji TV reported. Yoshida is accused of entering a second-floor apartment at around 5 a.m. on Oct 16 and attempting to sexually assault the girl who lives alone. Police said he allegedly straddled his victim while covering her eyes and mouth. He fled after the woman fought him off.

Yoshida told police he was looking for unlocked apartments where he knew women lived alone because he “wanted to satisfy his sexual urge on the spot after drinking alcohol.”

Yoshida surfaced as a suspect after street surveillance camera footage showed him riding a bike away from the apartment building.

Later that same day, another woman living near the crime scene experienced a similar sexual assault. Police are questioning Yoshida about his involvement in that incident.

Later that same day, another woman living near the crime scene experienced a similar sexual assault.

I'm wondering why this is the last sentence of the story, like the attack isn't as important as the other one. As a lead, how about, "Police have arrested a man on suspicion of an attempted rape and are questioning him about another assault in the same area."

This creep is a serious sexual predator. He’s stalking women to find where they live and then breaking into their houses to sexually assault them. Let’s hope his jail time matches the seriousness of his offenses.

Glad this creeper was caught. Good on the teenage woman for fighting him off.

Lock your doors at night.

And during the day.

Rape is more about having power over another human. That can't be satisfied by sex worker.

Wtf? That is what the massaji girls and este parlors are for that dot every drinking area in this town. What kind of non-excuse is that??

In Japan, under 23 is still a minor

Is this a typo? It's not correct.

The article did not mention his being blind. How else could he have missed all the advertising for sex services?

It isn't a typo. If you look at most of these news articles, certain crimes committed by someone under the age of 23, they state that the person can't be named because they are a minor.

I can't prove non-existence, and while the law can vary by prefecture for various issues, as far as I know, the age of 23 does not have any bearing on the status of being a minor.

Wikipedia backs this up: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9C%AA%E6%88%90%E5%B9%B4%E8%80%85#%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E3%81%AB%E3%81%8A%E3%81%91%E3%82%8B%E6%9C%AA%E6%88%90%E5%B9%B4%E8%80%85

Maybe someone else can provide something that supports the age of 23.

He "wanted to satisfy his sexual urge after drinking alcohol".

Throw him in prison with some big cellmate who wants to satisfy his sexual urge after being behind bars for 15 years.

attempting to sexually assault the girl who lives alone.

When they say a "teenage girl", it gets everyone's attention and gives the impression that she is like 13, 14 years old. But when they say she has her own apartment or lives alone, it leads me to believe that she is 18 or 19 years old. Where I'm from, 18 is an adult. In Japan, under 23 is still a minor, but they named this guy. I don't get it.

So this guy

“wanted to satisfy his sexual urge on the spot after drinking alcohol.”

By raping a girl and destroying her life. What a selfish individual. Hopefully a long prison term and a few jailhouse boyfriends will satisfy his sexual urges, Sorry no alcohol for you in prison.

Rape is more about having power over another human.

Sometimes, but not always.

When this geeza goes to jail, he will understand what rape really is all about, watch out for that slippy soap in jail mate!

I understand that prisons in Japan are run by the guards, not the inmates, so your Hollywood phantasies seem a bit misguided here.

Yep, that's definitely a red flag right there. I wish J-cops would do sting operations and impersonate potential victims to catch people like this. It's good that this guy was caught and that brave girl fought back. God knows how many girls this man could've victimized if left to his vices

I can't understand the man who rape teenage girl. I don't live alone yet, I am scary to live without my family or friends because it will happen like that news.
