A 71-year-old man was found dead on the street in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, police said Sunday.

According to police, at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, an emergency phone call was placed to the fire department from a resident of the neighborhood in Tomita, reporting that a man collapsed and was bleeding, Fuji TV reported. The man was found lying face down on the street and was confirmed dead at the scene. There were two stab wounds in his neck and chest.

Police said the man, who was identified as Koji Okada, lived alone nearby, was wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue work pants. But he had no personal items on him.

12:30 pm!!!!! How isolated is this street? Nobody saw? Nobody heard? It takes at least a bit of struggle to stab a man in his neck and chest even if he's 71. Smell a Kitty Genovese.

I think there should be more details like trail of blood. Sad for someone 71 years old to die like this. Somewhere is an enemy or a deranged person.

At first, I thought the 71-year-old man had been stabbed in his house nearby and stumbled up for his life to the street where he was found collapsed. But Fuji TV (Japanese) said no evidence of a struggle in his home. Yes, a kind of mystery-shrouded case. Hope they investigate to get to the bottom of everything. RIP to the hapless elderly.
