A man who was apparently set on fire staggered into an electric appliance store in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, on Monday, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Sankei Shimbun reported that the police received a call from the store in Nishi Ward, saying that a man, who was on fire, had staggered into the store, screaming for help.
The man, who is in his 40s, suffered burns to his entire body and remained in a serious condition on Tuesday.
Police said a witness reported seeing a woman fleeing the scene in a white vehicle, which was found in a coin parking lot about 150 meters away. Part of the driver's seat had been burnt.

sensei258: Maybe she's responsible, maybe not. We just know she ran off. For all we know the guy was drinking whiskey and trying to light a smoke at the same time and things went terribly wrong.

Oh that's plausible. They're sitting together in the car drinking whiskey, lighting up their cigars. He sets himself on fire, jumps out of the car screaming, and all she does is go park the car and walk away?
More more likely that she drove up to him on the street, tossed a container of gasoline on him, and set him on fire, spilling a bit in the car in the process.

I'm with Sensei on this. Remember, the white car was abandoned at the coin laundry 150m away. At the very least she is a 'person of interest' in the investigation.

I'm sorry - I've suffered burns so know their pain - but you might wonder if the conversation went like this: "Excuse me, madam, but could you kindly direct me to the fire extinguisher section?"
