A man who slashed three people, including one fatally, with a knife at a housing complex in Yokohama early Thursday, has been found dead after apparently committing suicide, police said.
The 76-year-old man fled the scene after the attack that occurred in Asahi Ward at around 1:35 a.m., according to the Kanagawa prefectural police.
The victim who died in the attack was Koji Endo, 61. His 61-year-old wife Kyoko, who called police, and 40-year-old son Tomokazu, were also stabbed. Kyoko received a wound to her face and is in a stable condition, while Tomokazu remained unconscious, police said.
Police said the suspect, who was related to the family, apparently jumped to his death from the roof of an apartment building in Kanazawa Ward, about 25 kilometers from where the attacks took place.
Police said the man had been involved in a dispute over money with the family for the past two years and that both sides had consulted with them a few times.

It may seem that way, but home is actually one of the safest places to be.

What I'd like to know is were the 3 together and got stabbed one after the other in a single sprint or where these isolated instances by the same individual?

Money brings out the worst in people.

nakanoguy01: "what is going on here recently? just yesterday some guy randomly stabbed/attacked a 9-year-old boy."
Come on, lad... you've been here long enough to know this daily occurrence isn't recent. THere's a reason why there is a Japanese term "toorima" with no equivalent English expression.

Yokohama - thanks for narrowing it down a bit. 2nd largest city in Japan, and 437.38 square km in size.

Read the article again! It was not random at all! It was a dispute in a family about money resulting in yet another family murder. That's at least one report every day for the last three months straight! This one could still be yet another family mass-murder if the others do not survive their injuries. There is a serious problem within the family unit in Japan. Parents killing kids, kids killing parents, brothers killing sisters, sisters killing brothers, parents wiping out whole families, cousins killing cousins, babies being dumped in parks, schools, trash cans and riverbeds and they are just the headlines from the last three months. You could also add to these all the jilted lover murders, which are also a kind of family murder. These make up at least 95% of murders in Japan. Japan is a safe country to live and it's not likely someone is going to kill you to steal your watch. However, being at home with your family seems to be a very dangerous place.

More inter family murder yet nobody has answered the question what percent of murders in Japan are within the family. As far as JT's reporting is concerned I'd say it's very high

killing random people is very rampant now in Japan.
