Man suspected of sexually assaulting teenage girl after giving her sleeping pills

Police in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl after he drugged her with sleeping pills.

Police said the suspect, Nichiyoshi Nishimura, a construction worker, has denied the allegations, Kyodo News reported. He was quoted by police as saying, “I didn’t force her to do anything and I didn’t make her take any pills.”

According to the warrant, Nishimura gave the girl sleeping pills at around 9 a.m. on March 22 at his home in Nara Prefecture. After she became drowsy, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Police said Nishimura and the victim, who lives in Nara Prefecture, knew each other after meeting online. Police did not release any information on how the assault came to light.

Nishimura was arrested Monday while visiting Saijo in Ehime Prefecture for work.

Mmm... Part of the information is missing here. Like how did she get to his place.

Anyway, either he raped her or not she's a minor and he's screwed.

Teenage girls don’t fall into deep sleep at 9am.

If her blood tested positive for the pills then yea her case will be very strong.

Otherwise...he said-she said situation could be on the horizon...

“I didn’t force her to do anything and I didn’t make her take any pills.”

Yes, I’m sure she was begging for pills.

Another minor groomed online to meet with a sexual predator.

Groomed... really? Does swiping right count as grooming now? Drugging someone is most definitely a crime, but let's not insult the capabilities of teenagers now eh?

@BackpackingNepal

If proven true, I agree 5 yrs behind bars should be the minimum. But 100k yen? Come on, at least 5 000 000.

She must have turned him in. Among the possible reasons must be that he refused to pay what they had agreed.

The prevalence of such crimes is a seriously worrying trend in Japan. What will it take for Japan to start up a sex offenders registry? And while they're at it, start educating the youth about online stranger danger. I feel like kids in Japan lack online safety awareness.

Agree it is very ambiguous.

Anyway, either he raped her or not she's a minor and he's screwed.

She could be 18 or 19 is that still a minor? The story is written deliberately to give the impression of younger as they use the word girl not woman.

Don't forget Japan lowered the age of adult to 18 in April.

The man denies the charges. So it should be innocent until proven guilty.

At this stage it is just another she said he said. Did she get a rape kit administered?

Toshihiro -Another sex offender,

Another minor groomed online to meet with a sexual predator. The penalties for these creeps is nowhere near severe enough. Online grooming of a minor carries a 7-10 year jail sentence in Australia. Add to that drugging and sexually assaulting her and this creep would doing 15 years in jail where he would be treated with all the kindness a disgusting kiddy fiddler deserves by the other inmates.

Part of the information is missing here.

Usually the norm with the articles here.

Like this lack of detail.....

a teenage girl

Great descriptive writing. Is that 13 or 19? Two completely different worlds there.

Either way, keep it up Japan.

Your lack of sexual predator lists and harsh penalties will continue to haunt women of all ages in Japan.

Way to keep it a "safety country", huh?

This kind of horrible act is very dangerous. Esp it happens at parties and bars. Such crime should be 100000 yen penalty and 5 yrs behind the bar.

Oh, so a teenage girl turned in a man because he drugged and raped her instead of paying her for sex. Yeah, I'm sure it was not getting the money that troubled her.

Wow!! Some people here are quick to convict! If some people had brains they would be dangerous. Follow the logic more needs to be looked at before this man be put away!!! First ask yourself being a "PARENT" why would your daughter be online meeting a 35 year old guy. Ok perhaps she didn't know he was 35 and he didn't know she was a teenager BUT why is she online period looking for love at that age? Nishimura denied the allegations, but the warrant says he gave her sleeping pills. Wait the warrant says that, we need more information etc.. Remember she came from Nara Prefecture to visit him at his home. What was her intent? If the guy was really that stupid why would he not have her meet at a love motel like the rest of the perverts instead it was at his home. More information needed please!! Again the police says a warrant said he gave her sleeping pills thats only an assumption based on what I read here it says she became drowsy and he "Allegedly Assaulted her". The police can release a warrant but not release any information on how the assault happened LMFAO but says he gave her sleeping pills? I am laughing to hard!! Where's the reporting wheres the logic? The story doesn't flow right!

@girl_in_tokyo

So, if she is 18 or 19, drugging raping her is not so bad as it would be if she were younger?

No it certainly doesn't and my post doesn't reflect that. I was pointing out that 18 or 19 is not a minor as somebody suggested "she's a minor and he's screwed".

After you start making this comment on every post about crimes, then and only then will I believe that it's justice you care about and not just rape apologism.

Take a bit closer look at my previous posts you may need to flick through a few pages because I don't always read the crime stories often to depressing.

The girl likely knew what she was getting into. Of course prosecute the guy to the fullest extent of the law but don’t give the girl a complete pass, either. And between these likely prostitution/compensated dating case, what is up with so many posters rooting for a police state?

I think his intensions were clear from the start, why would you give a girl/woman sleeping tablets? why would she take them knowingly what they are? it would seem like hes given them to her under pretext of them being something else, like asprin or paracetamol or just put them in a glass of water she asked for, if this was just a financial meeting thats gone wrong, there would be no reason for her to be given the sleeping tablets.

Yeah, she knew the guy would rape her, and she should be punished for that.

Wait, what?!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

He’s quite likely done this before.

The Japanese legal system will run it's usual course. If he pays her compensation (which she will of course embellish), he will get a suspended sentence. In the meantime, he will be grilled for 21 days until the prosecutor gets a good enough confession to indict (the prosector will indict anyway).

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I see, so it needs to be mentioned because it's not at all relevant. Gotcha.

If age is not relevant why do they penalize harsher for minors? The courts seem to think age has relevance. So what makes you think it has no relevance.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

We can all speculate.

Trial necessary.

Until then, innocent.

No bias should intervene but we are all biassed, especially some.

Articles showing a he said she said situation should not be issued nonetheless.

Can justice be delivered ?

Wow!! Some people here are quick to convict! If some people had brains they would be dangerous.

That's rather RUDE. I'm surprised the moderators haven't removed this post. Shame, shame, for shame on you, sir!

Follow the logic more needs to be looked at before this man be put away!!!

Yeah, like maybe a TRIAL?

First ask yourself being a "PARENT" why would your daughter be online meeting a 35 year old guy. Ok perhaps she didn't know he was 35 and he didn't know she was a teenager BUT why is she online period looking for love at that age?

How is this even relevant to whether he drugged and raped her?

Nishimura denied the allegations, but the warrant says he gave her sleeping pills. Wait the warrant says that, we need more information etc.. More information needed please!! Again the police says a warrant said he gave her sleeping pills thats only an assumption based on what I read here it says she became drowsy and he "Allegedly Assaulted her".

So you think the police reported to the press that the girl was given sleeping pills, but didn't actually CHECK to see if there were any sleeping pills in the room, on his person, or in her system. Yeah, okay ... the police just GUESSED and then reported this for no reason at all. Do you think the police do that often, you know, just walk onto a scene and then make these declarations to the press without checking for evidence? Like, "Man stabbed with knife" without checking for knife wounds, or "Man robs bank" without checking if any money was stolen?

Remember she came from Nara Prefecture to visit him at his home. What was her intent? If the guy was really that stupid why would he not have her meet at a love motel like the rest of the perverts instead it was at his home.

I'm not sure what this has to do with whether he drugged and raped her. Is it more or less likely to rape someone at a hotel or a home? Is is more or less likely for a stupid person who makes all kinds of mistakes to rape someone, or a smart person who knows how to cover his tracks? Is that your logic? How did you even come up with that?

Speaking of no logic ...

I'm sure that when you do comment on the crime section, you take Very Great Care to comment on each story that the person accused should be considered innocent, and you don't limit yourself to explaining that people are not allowed to have opinions or draw their own conclusions via logic when it's a rape case.

Because when there is a bank robbery, a murder, hit and run, money laundering, an assault, a home robbery, graffiti, corporate theft, harassment, fraud, drunkeness, or jaywalking case, or a sexual assault, the public has no right to speculate on the facts of the case as reported in the newspaper, as that would significantly impact the outcome of the trial because the judge, prosecutors, and police all read the comments section of every online newspaper and are totally swayed towards a charge of "guilty" by all the people saying so in the comments section. And that is why it is so very important to remain completely unbiased, and not speculate that the person is guilty ... or innocent. Oh, wait ...

We cannot speculate that he is guilty, but we CAN speculate that he is innocent? Huh. I wonder how you came up with that idea.

Another sex offender, better lock him up or there might be more victims. The pattern of older guy meets underage girl online is really concerning. I don't want Japan to turn into a police state, but I wish there's a way to prevent this.

-6 ( +11 / -17 )

Another case of crying wolf?

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

With perverts like this in Japan, there needs to be a Police State.
