Why have children if you don't have the mental state to raise one? RIP little one.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Babies cry, that's what they do. It's the only way for them to communicate. They cry if they're hungry, if they poop, if they're sleepy, they will cry for anything. Don't have children if you aren't mentally prepared for the hardship and reality that you will not get much sleep for at least the first year of your child's life. What is wrong with these kind of people?

Ayami Tsumori admitted to the charge, saying, "I punched my child in the head as he would not stop crying," the police said, adding that an autopsy showed the baby's skull and ribs were broken.

what the hell is wrong with this monster??

Animals do a better job taking care of their young ones.

very true

My ex Japanese wife and I were both 21 when our son was born. The ex was never mother of the year but even at such a young age, she did the bare minimum like the 3am feedings, etc. And at least she took her frustration out on me and never laid a finger on our son. So this woman already has a 1yo daughter so that means she got pregnant immediately after giving birth to her first child and snapped. Talk about irresponsible! Even at 23 I had almost no money and everything I had was going towards my son. If I had had another child at that time, I would have ended up being homeless. Kids are expensive!

Some mothers were not meant to be mothers.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Another one? How many more is this going to happen in jland?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

@gaijinjland

young teen like girls who not ready to have kids. That is why most Japanese don’t have children until close to age 40.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

You need to pass a test to drive a car, but anybody can have kids. RIP little fella.

She is NOT a mother. She is a child abusing and killing animal, who I really hope will be hung for this crime - the most heinous anyone can commit.

Rest in Peace to the poor baby.

Man, my heart just breaks for that poor boy. The only people he knows and trusts are his parents. His sole connection to the world and the trash that is his mother destroyed his only link to what is fair and good. The pain, fear and suffering he would have felt before crossing over. Absolutely terrible. As a parent, I can't imagine this happening to my son. Insane.

Sad all the way around.

An innocent baby had to bear the brunt of an unhinged mother, who it would appear had no support with 2 babies to take care of, in summer, with no respite- no place to escape to; swimming pools closed, parks closed, just stuck indoors with constant crying.

That little soul deserved nurturing love, and got abuse instead.

The woman snapped, and it is sad she had no support.

Horrendous.

It is very frustrating when a baby cries and can't be soothed. Situations where parents lash out at the poor child can be avoided by thier parents and schools giving them more support and preparation for parenthood.

This one tragic murder has resulted in more deaths of people under the age of 10 than all the cumulative COVID deaths of people under 10 in the entire country.

"I punched my child in the head as he would not stop crying,"

What was she expecting the baby to do when she did that? Perhaps the baby was crying because of the pain from the broken ribs she caused? Hungry? Needs a nappie change? Bored? Sleepy?

Some people needs their tubes VIOLENTLY tied!

Very tragic on many levels. If I were the husband, just two things; divorce and move out. That woman is bad news.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Yikes! Someone please spade this “human.”

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Probably forced by the husband to have two children very early and soon. She is still young adult and a lot of pressure raising two very young children.

I do not condone the violence but she snapped.

Couples should be very careful raising children at a young age.

I have one daughter and we did not have her till we were in our 30s.

There is no excuse to beat and punch your 3 year old child to death. Especially not as a mother.

She is an adult, mother of 2 children and responsible for her wrongdoings.

I punched my child in the head as he would not stop crying," the police said, adding that an autopsy showed the baby's skull and ribs were broken.

What a disgusting violent woman!

This is the only way to go for this husband, in this rare case he might get custody for the 1 year old daughter.

For this so-called mother I guess a jail sentence cannot be avoided.

I'm going to hug and kiss my 3 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son extra hard today and pray that the spirit of that small child can receive some of that love. These kinds of news articles have always hurt reading them, but especially more now that I am a dad.

My guess is the problem can be traced back to her childhood - and abusive bullying culture in Japan in general. Past trauma can create monsters, that's it is so important to avoid creating situations that develop trauma. People need to care about others.

Agree Doug.

Or, perchance......well I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and imply that post partum depression leads many new mothers to do the unthinkable to their baby and themself if not others. A rough childhood or past has nothing to do with it (in most cases). There are 2 main factors that comes into play which some scientists believe are the main c :

Physical changes. After childbirth, a dramatic drop in hormones (estrogen and progesterone) in your body may contribute to postpartum depression. Other hormones produced by your thyroid gland also may drop sharply — which can leave you feeling tired, sluggish and depressed.

Emotional issues. When you're sleep deprived and overwhelmed, you may have trouble handling even minor problems. You may be anxious about your ability to care for a newborn. You may feel less attractive, struggle with your sense of identity or feel that you've lost control over your life. Any of these issues can contribute to postpartum depression.

Usually its reffered to as "baby blues", which lasts like the first 2-3 weeks after giving birth, but some mothers ignore all the sysptoms way past the help stage till there's no going back then stuff like this happens!

Wow, that kind of idiocy we sometimes read about committed by step dads, but by the mother? Punching a 3-month old? She gave birth to it and she does not know how fragile the thing is? Unbelievable.

Another credible site, of which I don’t think I am allowed to link let alone mention the name said she was suffering from Covid depression and positive for the virus but was told to stay home.

If only they could have hospitalized her this would not have happened.

Wow, even this got downvoted. JT never ceases to amaze me. It's like a drug addiction - you know it's no good for you but you keep coming back anyway.

A 23 yr old woman suspected of using violence against her baby previously between late july and thursday and the husband goes to work leaving her alone with the 3 month old boy and 1 yr old daughter.

The woman kills the baby by crushing its skull and ribs because it wouldn't stop crying.

This is a horrible tragic story in more ways than one.

Poor baby boy rest his soul and the poor 1 yr old girl that was there at the time.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@sir_bentley28 Great twist on the logic, I agree physical and emotional changes could be a factor in what lead the mother to take her child life. Most posters branded the mother a monster but never thought to think she was the same mother for a 1 year old child. People fall for the sympathy because a child was lost and they too have children. Yes it is a tragedy but before branding the mother a monster why not question why she abused her child. Here's another twist I could throw out there yes she was the mother of the child but lets say it was because she was a rape victim and because of that didn't want the child. Just my spin on something different!

Taking someone's life and abuse are completely different. Although of course most people would still disagree with it, murder-suicide, eg.g where they jump off a building with their child, at least makes sense if the mother or father genuinely thinks it is in everyone's best interest, as much as we may disagree with the conclusion that that is the best way to deal with it.

This case, and abuse, is just someone being an A-hole. It has nothing to do with depression, the blues, any of that BS, and none of that explains or excuses it.

I wrote poor baby boy rest his soul and his poor sister and quoted the details of the article.

Yet its downvoted.

Perhaps someone could explain to me why the article reads -the woman is suspected of having used violence against her son Minato at some point between late july and Thursday ?

Suspected of ?

What the heck !

And who told the police that ?

The husband said that ?

And if in fact the husband said that then why did he leave her alone with them and go to work ?

Its sad and tragic loss of life that i find emotionally disturbing to read.

Perhaps its the translation of the article that's messed up too !

I cannot say it better, I fully agree with your comment. I wrote a similar reply and said a jail sentence in this horrible case cannot be avoided.

To beat your own 3-month old baby to death by smashing its skull and breaking its ribs is a terrible crime which cannot be overlooked and excused.
