I'm not usually a fan of the death penalty but in these cases hang 'em high.

Must be a big lead on this guy if it is making top news.

I hope they catch the culprit asap before he/she takes another life.

with all the creeps roaming the streets, I'm amazed how parents here leave their kids go to school alone.

Swift justice please, when the guilty man is captured

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Parents should be allowed to watch his interrogation for closure. I’m sure he will be crying and in pain.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

If he is guilty i hope for a quick drop with a short stop.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

if this is indeed the animal that murdered the child, I hope he hangs from the neck until dead, whereupon he will fall into Hell to suffer for eternity.

Just sayin'

What happened with the guy dressed in all black? Did they give up looking for him and target a less suspicious person as a lack of actual detective work?

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

The murderer was obviously someone with local knowledge.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Did the poor girl tell her teachers about this? Did the school call the police? If not, why not? There are far too many creeps roaming around the streets and too few people speaking out about it.

If he did it, hang him. If not, I pity him for the untaped beatings and lack of a lawyer, for 23 days.

Does anyone here know presumed innocence? No wonder so many corrupt convictions in the US and the UK.

Let judicial process play its part, if this suspect actually is the murderer.

Well, it seems this fellow has admitted to being “involved” in this murder and the cops are now preparing to arrest him.

You do know that "presumed innocence" applies to a court of law, not public opinion? We can speak like normal people here. I do hope they have the right guy, and haven't just railroaded some poor slob. As quick as this was, I imagine he is a fairly sure bet.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I don't get it...aren't these kids usually escorted to and from school in groups??? Why was this girl walking alone if there is a crazy nut on the loose! ?

Unfortunately the hang 'em high disease permeates all borders, thanks to the wonders of the internet.

The man is a suspect, at this stage. One would hope that lynch mobs are a thing of the past, or at the very least, confined to the vivid imaginations of online "debate".

I hope the cops catch the right guy for this horrific act of depravity.

This evening on Yahoo news they say the police are moving towards issuing an arrest warrant for this guy, who is starting to admit complicity in some way. The charge will be abandonment of a body, for which presumably they have some evidence, but we can imagine that trying to make murder stick may prove to be problematical.

Oh they got him?

good.

He wont face the death penalty unless he is put in front a "citizen" jury. Japanese courts do not hand down the death penalty in cases of "one" murder, even when it is horrific in nature as this one was.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

At this moment we do not know if it was a premeditated murder, but there is no doubt  that only an evil mind is capable of killing an innocent defenseless child. Swinging for it seems too lenient - is there a justifiable way to make him pay for his crime?

CH3CHO - Does anyone here know presumed innocence? No wonder so many corrupt convictions in the US and the UK.

This comment is totally irrelevant! The Japanese courts are a completely different system. The police won't make an arrest unless they have enough evidence to make a conviction, which is why they have applied for an arrest warrant. It's also how the J-police keep such a high conviction and confession rate. Courts in Japan are mainly just for sentencing. It's quite rare for a defendant to get a not-guilty verdict in Japanese courts. Let's just hope this loon is charged with murder and not just the lesser charge of abandoning her body.

This "Killer" of a Innocent young Girl has to be given the Death Sentence!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Killing young child like this is just beyond my comprehension. When you see young children, you want to protect them instinctively. No? What makes it possible for anyone to even think of doing such an evil act?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Everyone deserves a trial before being condemned to execution. Some of us promote the rule of law, rather than the rule of mob anger.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I seen him on television news and he was smiling to the police officers. Whoah

Scary creature

Kobayashi has admitted to the allegations, the police said, while investigative sources said he has also hinted that he killed the girl.

I hope this is the guy and he gets what he deserves.

But somethings also doesn't seem right.

The description was a man in black clothing and sunglasses. The possibility of finding him based on that description is almost non-existent but they found him and arrested him? investigative sources said he has also hinted. Based on the Japanese police interrogation skills, they can make you say what they want you to say just to get a "confession".

I mean, don't get me wrong, people! I am NOT defending this bunghole! I want this to be the creep and have swift, hard justice reign down upon him like vengence, but somethings don't add up. Storywise.

The Japanese courts are a completely different system. The police won't make an arrest unless they have enough evidence to make a conviction, which is why they have applied for an arrest warrant.

Unfortunately, that evidence is often a forced confession. Hence people making comments here about due process. We all want him caught, but to convict the wrong guy would be even worse than not convicting someone at all, as the killer would get off scot-free and likely murder another innocent child somewhere...

Group-think and mob-rule is not helpful in these matters.

They arrested him because he lives in the vicinity and apparently was into Lolicon.

Uh..no. They have a heck of a lot more than that on him.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

They arrested him after examining his car. I assume they found evidence placing Tamaki there.

Also papers were sent to the prosecutor just last month in a case involving Kibayashi committing obscene acts with a high school girl.

I bet the high school girl was strong enough to resist/fight him. Poor Tamaki chang.

I am amazed at how fast the police apprehended the killer. Excellent work by the detectives assigned to the case.
