Yes, how will those that speak truthfully and accurately address this? Wouldn't it be great if everyone blindly cheered everything Japanese and constantly complained about those who speak the truth?

Exactly! But there are a few here who do EXACTLY that.

@Vince Black

They apologized. Why can't foreigners use the Japanese staple excuse "I was drunk and don't remember"

Foreigners can and do use this execuse. What gave you the idea that they don't?

Unlikely that anything will become of this...

Well, that's usually the case when it's Japanese on Japanese agro.

THis is a private establishment

It's one thing to damage computers, light fixtures and stuff but when you start tearing the stuffing out a bear....

....that's when it gets real.

If you cause damage, you must compensate .

The Uruguayan players cannot escape because some people do not want to cause an international incident, Because they are Rugby players, doesn't give them any more rights than you and me.

Criminal complaint.... that would be for the murder of the stuffed bear?

Actually they've been investigated by police on 14th of October, and been released at the same day.

There are footages that showing one player is tackling from behind to a bar staff upon a discussion.

I remember this news at the day of 17th October, was no additional story about DJ equipments and teddy bears, USD 9,000 damage at that time.

Now, above story made me feel like, more has been added without any proof with one-sided reports & claims, showing all the team as vandals after they left to their country and the cup got over.

I'd like to hear what happened, why they tackled the guy, and how they damaged the bar. There should be more footages than 1 second.

Isn't it?

If everything correct on this article, then why they get released at the day of 14th October, and how they fly back to their country one week later?

The Uruguay players should apologise, pay the necessary compensation and also make a donation to a local charity in the city and recover their reputation. No need to have an international incident created over some drunken high jinks after a rugby loss, in what has been a RWC conducted so far by all in the best spirit of the game.

If they committed the crimes mentioned above then why weren’t they arrested and charged by the police? Why were they allowed to leave the country? Poor work by the law enforcement officials!

To those siding against compensation:

Try to stand on the nightclub owner's place and think as if you were the victim. Will it change your position? Just curious.

extradition to japan, compensation payment and jail for body injury and equipment damage for about 10 to 20 years should be good in my book

I see what you getting at. Though the only reason we poke fun at the “I was drunk” excuse is because it’s no excuse at all and everyone should be punished in accordance to the law regardless of race, sex or creed.

We should be working to a fair and just playing field (no pun intended).

No. And most grown ups understand that not only was the apology weak, but there was no offer of compensation. You think you can smash a place up and assault people and just say "sorry about that?" People are taking quite a risk with you when they invite you to their house.

And why does virtually every comment direct at Chip get deleted? Odd.

oh and who calls a nightclub "bacon egg"?

Well they do, and it looks like the rugby players had a good time too!

What difference does it make really what the name is?

They apologized. Why can't foreigners use the Japanese staple excuse "I was drunk and don't remember"

Oh and just who is supposed to pay for the damages?

Can't blame the owner for making a formal complaint. He should be compensated for damages and any loss of business as well!

@oldman_13 - Pathetic. The players and team skip town with a weak 'apology' without offering any financial compensation for the business?

Let's see how the usual crowd on here spin this one.

Well, obviously, your 'spin on this one' is to use melodramatics.

Did they not bow low or long enough for your taste? Was their tone not contrite enough?
